About Doug

A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Mr. Weathers was admitted to the Alabama Bar in May 1989. His legal experience has spanned several disciplines in criminal law, family law, estate litigation, intellectual property and as a general practitioner. However, since graduating from law school, he has practiced primarily in Criminal Law as an Assistant District Attorney for six years and as a defense attorney for ten years. Mr. Weathers has tried in excess of 110 felony jury trials and many misdemeanor and juvenile trials. Serving as a prosecutor, Mr. Weathers worked tirelessly to protect victims of crime and punish the offender. He received advanced training as a prosecutor at Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago, Illinois and at the National Advocacy Center, Columbia, South Carolina. Following his service as a prosecutor, Mr. Weathers went into private practice and devoted himself to the effective representation of citizens accused of criminal offenses and general practice. He has taught at the college level classes in Criminal Law and Procedure, Evidence and Civil Procedure. Most recently, Mr. Weathers was the supervising trial attorney for a large Fort Worth criminal defense firm. His duties included supervising five attorneys and managing the firm's trials in all felony and misdemeanor courts in Tarrant, Dallas, Johnson, Parker, Denton and Wise Counties. Mr. Weathers is committed to providing superior professional legal representation to clients in need of legal services and to treat the client with respect and professional courtesy.
