About D. Milburn
D. Milburn Gross Jr. was born in Hazard, Kentucky in 1961. Hazard is a miners town in southeastern Kentucky, in the middle of the Applachian mountains;a place where a large percentage of the people are proud but poor. Milburn's parents were no different. Milburn's parents moved from Hazard, in search of employment, when he was four years old. Upon the advice of an uncle, they moved to Hazel Green, Alabama, a small town near Huntsville. Milburn's dad became employed with Sperry Rand and Alabama became Milburn's home state. Milburn went to Hazel Green all 12 years of school and graduated from Hazel Green High School in 1979. From there he went to the University of Alabama and graduated with a B.S. in History with a minor in Political Science in 1986. He married Beth Hutto in 1987, and they have two children, MaryBeth and Will. Both of his children were born while he was in law school at the University of Alabama, but he excelled, making Law Review and graduated in the top 1/3 of his class. After law school he went to work in Andalusia, and practiced law there for almost 7 years. In 1998 he moved back to Hazel Green, and has been practicing law in Madison County since 1998. In 2010, Milburn graduated from Liberty Theological Seminary with a Masters in Religion. His upbringing and life experiences help him to provide compassionate and experienced representation.
