Ed Sands has over 35 years’ experience representing clients across Western Colorado. He formerly practiced law with Steve Carter, who also served as a Garfield County Judge. Recently, Ed was Of Counsel to the Law Firm of Garfield & Hecht, P.C. based in Aspen, Colorado.
The Sands Law Office is a full service law firm. Over the years Ed has represented a number of area local governments including the Towns of Eagle, Palisade, De Beque, Collbran, Parachute, Dinosaur, Rangely, the City of Fruita, the City of Rifle, as well as the Western Eagle Metropolitan Recreation District, De Beque Fire Protection District, and the Grand Valley Fire Protection District. He formerly served as the New Castle Municipal Judge.
Ed successfully argued a case before the Colorado Supreme Court, reversing the Court of Appeals and establishing new law in Colorado concerning municipal occupation taxes. (Town of Eagle v. Schiebe, 10 P. 3rd 648 (Colo. 2000))
