Questions & Answers

Please describe a case in the last year or two where you made a big difference.

I expedited an immigrant visa based on extreme hardship to a spouse that was stuck in a foreign country with an ailing mother and minor child when their visa case had already taken 2 years. She was expedited and the case complete in 2 weeks.

How did you build a successful practice?

I really care about my clients. I really strive to keep my clients happy, and am then rewarded when they refer their family and friends to me. I understand that the process is lengthy and frustrating, so I communicate with each client by phone or email as much as possible to keep them in the loop.

What should clients look for in a lawyer?

Clients should look for an attorney who will handle their case with their own experience and dedication, not pass it to an associate or a paralegal. When a client pays for an attorney, they should get the work of an attorney.

How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?

Local knowledge isn't really important because immigration is federal law.

What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?

I can usually provide at least some baseline path to moving forward and usually a good outlook on what to expect next. I always communicate what forms will be required and the filing fees to expect.

What information do you need in a free phone consultation?

Immigration history - overstays, U.S. citizen family members, past applications or petitions.

What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?

I always give my clients 100%. I want them to always feel like they got more than they paid for in the end.

What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?

Keeping families together.

What are your other interests in addition to law?

Travel, cooking, and scuba diving.

Are you involved in your community?

Not my local community, but definitely the legal community. I'm the vice chair of the ABA YLD immigration committee. That keeps me fairly busy.
