Ray Goodwin has been practicing law since 1985. For the past 25 years his practice has emphasized estate, corporate, real estate and business matters. Mr. Goodwin has lived in Colorado since 1982. Mr. Goodwin attended the University of Utah and received two B.S. degrees in Accounting and Finance. In 1982, Mr. Goodwin received a J.D. from California Western School of Law in San Diego, California. While in law school, he was a teaching assistant for legal research and writing. Concurrently he was a Lecturer teaching Accounting at San Diego State University. In 1982, Mr. Goodwin received his license as a Certified Public Accountant, and he worked at Ernst & Whinney (nka Ernst & Young). In 1985, Mr. Goodwin worked for Manulife in its Advanced Underwriting division. In 1988 Mr. Goodwin went into private practice. Mr. Goodwin is admitted to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court; United States District Court and the United States Tax Court. From 1986 through 1994 Mr. Goodwin authored and updated tax planning guides for Tax Planning for Closely Held Businesses. Those guides were published by the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and used in their national continuing education programs, where Mr. Goodwin lectured throughout the country. Currently Mr. Goodwin is primarily involved in office practice, but his earlier years were spent in the courtroom. Mr. Goodwin’s current practice involves the representation of owners, buyers, sellers, developers and lenders involved in real estate and the representation of business and corporate clients invoiced in both real estate and other businesses. For estate planning clients, Mr. Goodwin has drafted many wills, trusts and organizational plans for extensive business holdings (mostly in real estate) and probate work for decedents and their beneficiaries. In the community Mr. Goodwin has served on the Board of Directors for the Colorado Credit Union since 2007 and is currently the Vice-Chairman of the board. Mr. Goodwin is married and has three children and that is where his main interest is in watching them grow and serve.

John F. Reha has practiced litigation and business law since 1980. He has tried many cases to conclusion, has represented numerous clients in trade secrecy, non-compete and personal injury matters. He has also handled many transactional projects, including the sale and purchase of businesses. John has been handling complex business litigation matters for more than 40 years. He is a noted authority on issues commonly presented by noncompete, trade secrecy and unfair competition cases, and his article, “The Law of Trade Secrecy and Covenants Not to Compete in Colorado,” provides in-depth discussion on these issues. He has taught business litigation to many other attorneys and has spoken to numerous trade groups on this subject, with a goal of educating the business and professional communities on the unique challenges that post-termination competition presents and the critical importance of effective and creative representation in this area.

Eric Staton lived in Illinois until he was in the second grade, then in Spring, Texas, until his junior year in high school. His family moved to Littleton, Colorado in 1990, where he finished high school at Heritage High School. After high school, Eric studied English and Philosophy in Regis University, so the practice of Law appealed to him because he wanted a career that utilized his strengths in writing and analytical thinking. Eric studied Law at Rutgers School of Law. Eric was mentored in the area of workers’ compensation by one of the best lawyers who ever practiced in that area in Colorado, and he focuses his legal practice primarily on workers’ compensation claims, wrongful death claims, and injury claims of all types. Since joining the firm in 2011, David has specialized in handling many of the firm’s business litigation matters including those dealing with complex contracts, non-competes, trade secrets, and construction defects. Additionally, with his strong appellate background, David has been the primary attorney on most of the firm’s appellate cases, including some of the largest non-compete cases in Colorado history. With an extremely thorough, analytical, and strategic approach and the determination to go the extra mile for each of his clients, David has established a reputation as skilled litigator and advocate. Originally from Michigan, David has been a lifelong fan and supporter of the University of Michigan. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in 2005 and went on to study law at Michigan State University. David and his teammates won the 2008 John Marshall International Moot Court Competition in Information Technology and Privacy Law and took second place in the 2008 New York Law School Robert F. After graduating from law school, David moved to Colorado and began an internship clerking for the Honorable Gerald Rafferty and Honorable Valeria Spencer of the Arapahoe County District Court until he joined the firm. Outside of law, David is passionate about traveling around the world and particularly loves cruising with his wife and kids. He also loves being involved in all of his son’s and daughter’s activities including soccer, dance, baseball, scouting and camping.

Bill Van Horn has been serving the people of Colorado for decades. He was raised on a farm in Iowa, before coming to Colorado to enter the Air Force Academy as a young cadet at age 17. After graduating from the Air Force Academy in 1974, he then flew as an electronic warfare officer on the B-52 nuclear bomber in Guam and the RC-135S Cobra Ball spy plane in Alaska. He was awarded the Airman’s Medal, the highest award given by the Air Force for peacetime heroism, for rescuing fellow flyers from their aircraft when it crashed and burned. He has flown missions that took him up close and personal to the borders of North Korea and the Soviet Empire. Bill returned to Colorado after years in active duty for the Air Force to earn a law degree from The University of Denver Law School, while he continued to serve our country by joining the Air Force Reserve, and flew for 20 years on the C-130 Lockheed Hercules with combat flying time in three United States conflicts. Bill graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a B.S. in International Affairs in 1974 and from the Air War College in 1998. After serving in the Air Force, Bill returned to the University of Denver and graduated in 1987 with a J.D. While in law school, Bill served as the Managing Editor of the Transportation Law Journal for 1986-1987. During Bill’s early law career he clerked for a Federal Judge, and was a former Senior Litigation Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. Bill moved into the area of family law and is recognized as a prominent and highly respected professional in his field. Bill and his wife Penni have five adult children, four daughters-in-love, and five grandchildren. Bill has attended a Tuesday Sunrise Bible Study for several decades, loves to hike with his lab, Coal, stay informed about community and national issues, and play with the “Grands.” Bill and Penni attend Red Rocks Church.

Reuben A. Aguirre is a plaintiff-side litigator who represents employees and consumers in individual matters and class actions. He is admitted to practice in California and Colorado. Reuben began his legal career as an associate at two international law firms, where he focused on technology litigation, data privacy, and white collar government investigations. His early practice placed him on the defense side of significant civil and government matters involving major technology and Fortune 50 companies. He draws on that institutional perspective when advocating for current consumer and employee clients. He earned his J.D. from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where he externed for a federal judge in the Northern District of Illinois, participated in the Supreme Court clinic, completed advanced trial advocacy coursework, and served as an editor of the Northwestern Journal of Law and Social Policy. He was a collegiate debater at the University of Denver. Before law school, he worked for Colorado Legal Services in its migrant farmworker division. Reuben has deep roots in Southern Colorado, has lived and worked in California, and continues to serve clients there. Jo Stone is a Colorado native, whose grandparents were homesteaders in eastern Colorado.
