About Erach

Erach Screwvala is a partner in the firm's Entertainment and Litigation Departments. In his entertainment practice, Mr. Screwvala counsels authors, producers, independent record companies, and musicians in the theatre and music industries and has negotiated rights acquisitions for various theatrical and television properties, assisted authors in arranging collaboration agreements, and prepared and negotiated recording contracts.

Mr. Screwvala also has an extensive litigation background, both in State and Federal courts in complex litigation matters in a diverse range of areas, including Constitutional issues, copyright infringement and securities fraud.

In 2004, Mr. Screwvala moderated a panel on music law for the CMJ Music Marathon, one of the premier independent music festivals in the country. He is also a contributing author on intellectual property issues for the Association of Recorded Sound Collections ? 35 ARSC Journal 2, Copyright CPR or When Public Domain is Not Really Public Domain; 36 ARSC Journal 1, Copyright Due Diligence and 36 ARSC Journal 2, Webcasting and Copyright Law or Why Old Dogs Can't Learn New Tricks.

Mr. Screwvala graduated cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 1998 and received his B.A. from Oberlin College in 1992. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
