About Eric

Eric M. Douthit began practicing law in 1997. He joined the firm as a partner in 2003. He works as a general civil law practitioner, with a focus in representing closely held businesses. He assists entrepreneurs with all aspects of their business lives, including company formation, mergers and acquisitions, financing, maintaining company structure, succession planning, and franchising.

He also has experience in advising numerous non-profit organizations. When not representing small business owners and charities, Mr. Douthit assists individuals with estate planning, probate matters and with general litigation.

Mr. Douthit is a native of Noblesville, graduating from Noblesville High School in 1990. He received a B.S. from Vanderbilt University in 1994, majoring in History. He served as a member of the Vanderbilt Honor Counsel. He is still active with Vanderbilt and is a former President of the Vanderbilt Alumni Club of Indianapolis. Mr. Douthit graduated from Indiana University School of Law-Bloomington, cum laude 1997. While in Bloomington, he was on the staff of Indiana Law Journal.

Mr. Douthit received the 1998 Multiple Sclerosis Leadership Award. The Indiana Bar Foundation awarded its Pro Bono Publico Award to Mr. Douthit in 2004. This statewide award recognized his contributions to making legal services available to those persons who could not otherwise afford them.

Currently, Mr. Douthit serves on the Boards of Beginnings, Hamilton Southeastern Academy of Finance, the Carmel Clay Educational Foundation, and the Indianapolis Senior Citizens Center. He has acted as a volunteer attorney, assisting members of the Center with a variety of legal issues. He is presently participating the Hamilton County Leadership Academy. He is a former Board member of the Indianapolis Urban League. He is a member of the Indiana, Hamilton County and Indianapolis Bar Associations.

Eric resides in Carmel with his wife, Jill, a Project Manager for Omnisource Marketing Group. When not chasing his young sons, Noah, Ellis and Owen, Eric enjoys golfing and running.
