Questions & Answers
What should clients look for in a lawyer?
Clients should find a lawyer who has plenty of experience in that particular area of law and who will give them personal attention. The most common complaint about lawyers is a failure to communicate with the client. Lack of communication or experience will not be a problem at Reed Law Firm. I have been focused almost exclusively on bankruptcy and debt collection law since 1999. We will not only give you the legal expertise you need, but we will always return your calls, constantly monitor your case, and keep you informed of important details along the way.
How important is local knowledge to the success of your cases?
Local knowledge is vital to your success. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a local attorney that you can meet with face-to-face and that you can find when you need them. I routinely hear horror stories about people who used an out-of-state organization that did not go as planned and, as soon as a problem arises, you have no way of getting them to respond to you or fix the issue. Even though bankruptcy is a federal law, there are varying state laws incorporated into the process that out-of-state lawyers may not understand. Plus, having an understanding of the different procedures with the judges and trustees in the state is crucial to the process.
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?
We can actually get a lot accomplished at the first consultation. I can usually give the client the available options, go over the cost, and develop our game plan. Most people are surprised to hear how easy and affordable the process is.
What information do you need in a free phone consultation?
I am willing to do a consultation with no information at all, so don't let a lack of details be a reason not to call. However, the more information you have the more we can get accomplished. Ideally, a list of creditors and a paystub (or other income details) will get us a long way. And certainly if you have been served any legal papers, it is helpful to have that documentation.
