About Erika

Erika L. T. Lewis is an associate in the Litigation & Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group.  She joined the firm in 2006.  Ms. Lewis specializes in the areas of civil litigation, appellate advocacy, environmental law, and maritime law.  Her litigation practice arises primarily from the firm's real estate, land use, corporate, trust, and environmental practices.

While in law school, Ms. Lewis served on the editorial boards of the University of Hawai'i Law Review and the Public Health Law & Policy Journal, and on the Moot Court Board.  She is the author of Trailblaze or Retreat?  Political Gerrymandering After Vieth v. Jubelirer, 27 U. Haw. L. Rev. 269 (2004).

Representative Matters

Land Use   Represented Kaua'i developer in federal court on 42 U.SC 1983 claim that the County Planning Commission violated its constitutional rights by ignoring deemed-approved development permits.  County settled and issued development permits.

Class Action   Continuing representation of a class of judgment creditors in efforts to enforce judgment through action for fraudulent transfer.

Appellate Advocacy   Successfully defended trustees of a large family trust in a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals case involving disputed land claim.

Commercial Lease Disputes  Represented commercial landowners in landlord-tenant and business disputes.
