QUESTIONNAIRE
A client of ours was sued for assault based on a brawl with a neighbor. However, the neighbor who sued her was arrested and convicted for the same incident! So, even though she was found to be the aggressor in one court, she was suing my client in another! In the first ten days after we for this case, we were able to convince the Judge of the absurd nature of the case and she ordered that the case will not proceed until the Plaintiff posts a $5,000.00 bond. If this isn't done in 30 days, the case will be dismissed. That is justice!
What should clients look for in a lawyer?The main thing clients should seek in a lawyer is the ability to communicate. If he is talking over their heads, they should move on. If he is not taking their calls or is hard to reach, they should move on. If they feel better once they speak to him, they have come to the right place!
What information can you provide in a free phone consultation?In a phone consultation, I can discover if a case is within my expertise and if I think the client has a reasonable position. The client can determine if they like talking to me and if I can help them. And we can discover if my services are within their budget!
What differentiates you from other lawyers in your community?I am different from other lawyers in the community because I am a better person than businessman! This means that I will never put my own financial gain ahead of doing what is best for the client. There are myriad ways by which a lawyer can squeeze a case so he can bill a little more and still argue that everything was 100% necessary for a case. This is not a good method, in my mind. If you can meet a client's needs without breaking the bank, that is the way to go!
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?The thing I find most rewarding is the feeling of having exceeded their legal expectations while sometimes coming in under budget on a project. I have always represented the "little guy" whose concern is always to be done with his legal mess without spending a fortune.

Cases
A neighbor attacked my client and then sued her as if it was her fault. Rather than spending tens of thousands of dollars trying to get to a point where a Court could dismiss the case, I moved for Security for Costs. The Court thought the case was a little ridiculous so it ordered that the Plaintiff had to pay $5,000.00, just for the Court to hold, for the case to continue. She couldn't pay so the case got dismissed. She appealed and lost. Score another point for the good guys!
