He also suffered herniation’s to his neck and back requiring cervical fusion surgery. -$700,000 Settlement at Mediation for construction worker who fell through an open elevator shaft during construction of Manhattan high-rise sustaining injuries to his shoulder and knee, requiring arthroscopic surgeries. The worker was a union concrete laborer who was assisting in the installation of a CONCRETE FLOOR in a high rise building. While walking backwards, he stepped through the uncovered opening of an elevator shaft and fell to the floor below, hitting his shoulder and knee as he fell. As a result he required arthroscopic surgeries to repair his torn rotator cuff (shoulder) and meniscus (knee). He is expected to be able to return to work after rehabilitation and further education from a speech pathologist.
