Burns & Hansen, Pa

I have been a client of Burns and Hansen going on 2+ years. There are two things about them I like most: 1. Their willingness to create a custom legal solution based on my needs and experience. For example, if I need help with an eviction, they will take it off my hands completely, come in for any piece of the process I am struggling with, or simply answer my questions/give advice. 2. When I reach out to my attorney for help, I am usually (not always) feeling very stressed and overwhelmed. How quick I can get a hold of him/her is important; they are always extremely responsive and caring. Honest, caring, affordable, and knowledgeable is a perfect depiction of my experiences with them.

The lawyers and staff at Burns and Hansen were there for me and my family when we needed them most. They had the best interests of my child at the center of their plans and educated me on how to achieve realistic goals through our proceedings. They were always ready and willing to discuss things when I had questions. They go above and beyond for their clients. They helped me feel supported and confident in the midst of the confusing family court system.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I was told things were happening that werenu2019t and still charged for them. I edited petitions. The lawyer used incorrect names in court. We lost our case due to not having the things done we were told would be and still got charged for. I had my charges estimated at $1,500.00 when I first retained them. I paid that and they are now charging me $3,150.00 more. They stated this was fine because I signed an agreement stating the first was an estimate and not a set price. (They must suck at u201cguess how many are in the jaru201d) After our case, multiple voicemails were left in regards to my bill and how to resolve. None were returned until I stated if I didnu2019t hear back, I would assume they considered my bill paid in full. Half an hour later, a secretary called me back and scheduled a phone call with me and the lawyer. The lawyer did not make this phone call when scheduled and did not contact me until 2 days later. They are now threatening ME to take me to court or garnish my wages. DO NOT GO WITH THIS FIRM!!! I will be filing a complaint to the Board of Ethics.

Please do not use them. Very unresponsive! They often have no idea what they are doing. Encountered challenges with billing too.

Please keep in mind, I have not had many reasons to hire a lawyer in my life. However, I thought that they were supposed to work FOR you and help you. My experience with Patrick Burns was far less than satisfactory. He did not care to listen to anything I had to say, he didn't spend the time on my case as he should have, it was apparent how little he cared, he messed up my case, and then he sent me a huge bill on top of the retainer for things like "staff meeting " for 3 hours at $275/hour, sending an email $125, etc.nnI feel scammed. I would not recommend him at all.
