Over the course of 2024 I had necessity to retain counsel pursuant to a state sponsored persecution against myself. After speaking to several lawyers in the Dubuque area I chose Cody J. Reimer to represent my interests. I would say the fact that attorney Reimer had the lowest retainer fee requirement for being the greatest reason I chose him at that time. Now that the matter has been concluded and I have a complete body of work to examine I can say with all certainty that I would not make the same choice twice. There were court dates that attorney Reimer was late for or did not show up for at all. I understand that things come up, but I was never given any reasons why the attorney was unable to keep his appointments or even communicate the expectable absence. Knowing full well the task of making it to court was very difficult for me I can only speculate if this failure to perform the most basic of human functions was due more to a deficit of ability or to something more akin to contempt for me as a client personally. Ultimately after nearly a full year of hearing the same story over and over and over the issue was resolved with the same agreement that I had advocated for from the very onset. Throughout the entire ordeal I never felt like attorney Reimer genuinely had my best interest at heart. He failed to convince me that he was advocating and petitioning the state with urgency and determination. It felt to me like the continuances were more intentional than necessary. After all the unproductive court dates, additional filings and phone calls I ended up being required to give more money for retainer which effectively eliminated the primary reason I made the choice I did. If I could do it over again I would throw the extra retainer in up front and risk the unknown again.
Jennifer is a real estate expert and does an outstanding job for her clients! She is willing to help in any way she can, and really looks forward to communicating with clients in an effort to avoid potential problems before they happen. I recommend calling Jennifer to anyone who is unsure about their legal situation concerning real estate!
I hired taryn McCarthy. She was a younger woman who just had a baby. Mentally I dont think she was prepared to go into a high conflict custody battle for me. She basically did the complete opposite of what every expert advises in these types of cases...she seemed to want to lay back and wait. Not stir the pot and she didn't read her emails. I know this because I told her everything in my emails then she was mad when my opponents lawyer told her what was going on...after she should have been aware for weeks. Another lawyer that didn't seem to do much advising but more did mind reading and future predicting.
They have helped me out with a few real estate items and did good work and did not charge too much. I have worked with several attorneys there and all are easy to work with and competent. A good attorney that charges reasonable rates is a good thing.
Helping a friend resolve a divorce. This firm does not provide the guidance and knowledge needed for those individuals going through this process for the first time. Be sure your prepared and you have additional guidance if you choose this firm. Her 'ex-husband to be' and his attorney are setting all the timelines and stalling the process. The attorney and firm can't seem to protect her from her ex's erratic behavior and this has put her safety in jeopardy. We am hopeful they can turn this around and get this resolved quickly. I wouldn't recommend this firm as of now. But if they come through and turn this around, I will surely updated this post.
