Daniel L. Cohen

Dr. Cohen is the most unempathetic person I've ever met. I would give less than 1 star if I could. He has no bedside manor and seems to enjoy berating me every time I see him. I went to see him 3 weeks ago and he ordered 3 tests to be performed. I haven't had time as I work 6 days a week just to put food on my table and a roof over my head. Over the past 3 weeks I got so sick I went to the er. They did 2 of the 3 tests and saw how inflamed my colon is as I suffer from severe Chrons Disease. They proceeded to call the docs office and was told to have me come in first thing in the morning. When I showed up Dr. Cohen again starts to berate me for not having the 3rd test completed. I pleaded with him explaining that he doesn't know my life outside the office and couldn't understand everything I'm dealing with in my life and to please not treat me in this manner. I explained I'm doing the best I can at this time. He said he can't help me if I don't do all the tests and I understand that. I had no intentions of returning to him until I completed the 3rd test but it was his office that insisted I come in asap. I said to him that i don't know why I'm here if he can't help me. It was as if I was bothering him. He proceeded to stand up as if to indicate I should leave so I got up and left. I told him how I've never seen a doctor as unempathetic as him. It's a shame as his office staff is very nice and helpful. I will be filling a complaint with the state.nnUpdate: nI called the office manager to see if another doctor in the group would see me. She explained that Dr. Cohen was just very frustrated that I hadn't completed all the tests and that's why he treated me that way. The truth is, I can understand his frustrations and feel the same way. These tests are very expensive and time consuming and like many people, I work 6 days a week and barely get by financially. However, that is no excuse for the doctor to refuse treatment or speak to a patient in the way he did. I tried to find out who was in charge but she refused to tell me who the controlling partner in the group is for me to write a letter. She wanted me to write a complaint letter to her or Dr. Cohen directly. This will just get swept under the rug but I understand she has to protect her job. I could go on but what's the point. Just like having a patient bill of rights if the doctor won't honor it has no point. STAY AWAY FROM DOCTOR COHEN!
Dr Cohen is great however very hard to get in if you're a new patient.
What a caring and kind Doctor. I was referred by my doctor to have a manometry done before having a Heller myotomy . Before performing the test. He took the time to explain exactly what was going happen and what he was looking for. After the test he took the time AGAIN to tell me what he thought and explained what he saw at first glance and that he would be doing further review before sending the final results to my doctor. Now before I go any further let it be known that most doctors do not perform the test with the patient, they have a tech do the procedure and then he/she review the results. I found Dr. Cohen extremely kind and very informative . I would absolutely recommend Dr. Cohen to anyone who needs a GREAT doctor with a hands on approach.... great bedside manor . THANK YOU DR COHEN.
