We have always done our taxes ourselves with no issues or problems. It was recommended by family that we use DunlapSLK so last year was the first year we used them. They were very expensive but we were assured they knew what they were doing. We come to find out this year when we used them again that our 2019 taxes that the accountant did made many mistakes and resulted in several thousand dollars being owed back to us (we are still waiting for that money since May). They assured us everything was correct this year only to get a letter from the IRS saying its not and we owe more money. We have repeatedly called and emailed DunlapSLK only to get responses like "Sorry I don't have better news" or now we are getting no response at all. They apparently have no attention to detail and don't have the courtesy to take care of their clients. They do manage to get their payments right away though. Very disappointing. Its better to do it yourself.
I have been a client of Lisa Leatherman's for many years and she has provided excellent business advice and value - far beyond the typical accountant. If you're looking for an accountant who deeply cares about your business and success and takes the time to explain the details and provides ideas and suggestions to help you legally keep more of your hard earned money - Lisa and her team is highly recommended. You get what you pay for... and they are worth it.
As a new business owner who doesn't have a business background, working with Rene at DunlapSLK has been great. She guided us through the first year with our bookkeeping and taxes and gave us peace of mind. We couldn't have asked for more. I highly recommend.
Rene, who originally came over from the SLK side of the flawless merger of these two firms provides me with exactly the right levels of accounting support for my startup! Always professional and friendly, she also has excellent Quick Books skills and helped to integrate my LLC business taxes and my personal taxes .
My brother and I were clients of this accounting firm in 2006 for our LLC. We recently asked for a copy of our taxes from that year. Their policy is to permanently destroy all records eight years after a client terminates. And yes I understand their position is, we gave you a copy at the time of filing. Everyone knows how difficult the IRS can be. To destroy our records without Contacting us to see if we would like a copy is unacceptable!
