Overall it really depends on what program you go to school for that will determine your experience. I went for Criminal Justice and had a lot of good professors, had Advisor Buffardi who was a very pleasant man to know and study under. Costs were generally cheap, except for the textbooks (those you should buy online for MUCH less). It can be a pain getting started because many of the different admin departments don't communicate well and the general advisors don't know what they're talking about. Once you get by the starting gate though things are much clearer and easier. Overall I was happy with my choice to stay local and get my degree through SCCC.

SCC was the worst experience of my life and was a waste. I dropped out due to personal issues and the school was just not helpful (granted I was so confused on what I wanted to do and had no help to figure out what would be best for me) my counselor was HORRIBLE! I told her all my issues and she was absolutely rude I told her I was scared of my ex at the time and scared about not being able to feed my cats (I always managed to do it no matter what) and SHE TOLD ME TO GET RID OF MY CATS! WHAT KIND OF COUNSLOR SAYS THAT HONESTLEY THE WORST! I would give this place a 1 star but I did like SOME of the professors there. But overall don't waste your time.

It took forever to receive the food and also didn’t get to have a full dining experience

Schenectady County Community College is a wonderful institution. Two of my children and my wife are alumni. The school is well known for their music and culinary arts programs. For young people just graduated from high school this is a great school as the campus is compact and they have housing available, which is rare for a community college. The school also would be good for adult learners as well.
