Hired an attorney, Laura Smith, for my wife's case. She gave us a discount on her retainer which was great due to our situation at that time. She also had a very kind and caring demeanor, which my wife felt was important. Laura stated that if we paid her initial retainer, and if the judge approved, that she would get her attorney fees paid by the opposing party. Nothing further was disclosed. No other fees or warnings were given. The judge did approve this and we won our case. Months later, one person at the office was trying to collect money from us, while Laura stated that we wouldn't have to worry as they were collecting from opposing party. Months later again, now Laura is stating we are responsible and reversing what we all originally agreed upon. Now she states we signed her fee arrangement, which is not viewable by us or been supplied to us per our requests. We have also received three very different bills stating vastly different amounts without explanation. When we asked to see these documents and a correct version of an accurate bill, along with other very valid questions (like why this is completely different than what was discussed and agreed upon), we were told that we had a threatening tone and they would no longer work with us. This was not the case, but mere valid questions. Of course, we were threatened both attorney and firm that we better pay or else. This law firm has very deceptive tactics, horrible communication skills, and no integrity. They omit very vital information that should be disclosed to clients prior to. It is an absolute shame and disgrace to treat clients this way.
These are some of the biggest crooks you'll ever come across. Steer clear! They deserve a ZERO rating because the only thing they are good for is generating random bills that are presented out of the blue...no service provided. I agreed to pay the $3,000 legal fees for my daughter in JUN 22. I received another bill in DEC for almost $245 and paid that. My daughter hasn't received squat for service since 2022... no contact in all of 2023 and now, in JUN of 2024 she and I received a bill... again NO EXPLANATION OF CHARGES... just a payment link for almost $821. JURIS LLC NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. I requested a zero balance receipt and acknowledgement that their services are no longer needed and this to close that account immediately!
It has taken me quite some time to process my divorce experience and I finally feel somewhat comfortable posting this review in hopes that no one else will endure what I did. I filed for divorce nearly 5 years ago after leaving a physically abusive marriage. I had video and photo proof of the violence and this firm failed to properly address that in my divorce proceedings. I was also advised NOT to ask for alimony after having to move half way across the country to flee my marriage as a now single, jobless mother. I was told that the judge would likely deny my alimony request. Looking back, this firm failed to represent and protect me and my children. They were looking to do the least amount of work for the full price. Do not make the same mistake I did and please find an attorney that will represent and advise you properly.
Laura Smith has helped me with multiple cases. She has always been extremely communicative, attentive, and her guidance was excellent. Her fees were reasonable. I enjoyed working with her and if I had additional issues I would call her again.
Do not waste your time or money with this firm. If I could give them zero stars, it's more than they've earned. Laura Smith was hired to represent me. I did not feel she fought for my rights or best interests. She wrote motions without getting the details needed first, which caused her to rewrite them, and charged me for her mistakes. She did not communicate well, and did not send me court-signed documents in a timely manner. She wrote one motion without informing me of what she added and sent it on to the judge. She did not speak to me for two days after that. Her office manager defended what Laura had done, saying Laura would NEVER speak on my behalf without my knowlege, yet that's exactly what happened. They then used up as much of my remaining balance and refunded so little of my retainer, it was almost pointless to call it a refund. They mishandled my case and I was forced to hire another attorney to "undo" most of what Laura did. Very unethical and unprofessional, and I would hate for anyone else to have the same experience I had.
