The James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital is recognized as one of the premier VA medical facilities in Florida, distinguished by its extensive range of services, an emergency care unit, and highly skilled physicians. Despite these commendable attributes, the availability of parking presents a notable challenge. Individuals without a handicap license plate may find themselves facing a considerable walk to reach the facility, which could be inconvenient for those requiring medical attention. Nevertheless, with its advanced medical technology and comprehensive array of specialties, the hospital remains a leading institution in veteran healthcare.
After visiting my physician at the JAH VA SCI bldg. I needed to fill 2 prescriptions the same day. We then traveled a few minutes down the road to the Outpatient VA Pharmacy. They have plenty of parking available & a drive thru. Upon arrival I checked in at the window and my Rx order was activated so it could be filled. Approximately 30 mins later I received a text message alerting me that my Rx’s were ready for pickup. Pickup inside was extremely easy as well. Very happy with my experience here.
When you call ahead of time to make sure the Rx is ready because it's a 1.5 hr distance to the Pharmacy... 1st call to be told they don't have the prescription, but hold whole they look elsewhere, and you get hung up on while waiting, so then, you call the ER and the ER calls you back and says they called and spoke with the pharmacist and were told James A Haley Pharmacy received the prescription they were just waiting for approval. Then call back a 2nd time, to be told they have received the prescription and it is ready. Upon arrival, after commuting 1.5 hrs to get it, am told they don't have that here!!!!! This pharmacy has been such a headache and financial burden when it comes to community care Drs prescribing prescriptions and not having them ready upon arrival!
I like the pick up window here. You get your prescriptions in a timely manner as long as your provider activates it and you are on your way.
It's great there they are pretty quick on getting my meds to me when I am there
