I was referred to Sanford by my chiropractor after I was involved in a MVA that was not my fault. The only instance that I was satisfied with Sanford or his staff was during my initial visit. Shortly after that many failings on his part became a prevalent part of this endeavor. He had a difficult time contacting me shortly after starting negotiations because he incorrectly entered my contact information into his system. He very quickly began treating me and my case as a low level earner and often felt that my inquiries or concerns were pushed aside. I had done my own research and found a formula from many resources that included loss of income and medical costs and came to a number that I felt was reasonable to settle for. I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting swindled by my own lawyer. I expressed my monetary expectation to Sanford when he began to urge me to settle for something that was half than what I was expecting. I had to advocate for myself to my own lawyer, someone who is supposed to be on my side. I decided to settle for something far lower than I felt was fair simply so I could be done with Sanford, the case, and put it behind me rather than to take it to court. Even getting my settlement check to me was an ordeal. I requested that he mail it to my residence. I waited several days and it never arrived. I emailed him and received an auto response that he would be out of the office starting the day after he said he'd mail my settlement check until five weeks later. This was not the first time he had been out of touch for several weeks during the year and a half that I was working with him. I emailed his legal assistant and waited four days and three emails later for a response. Sadly, I had gotten accustomed to delayed responses. Finally after hearing from her, I came to learn she had been out of the office with the an illness. I found it highly unprofessional that no one was catering to the needs of their customer base while both Sanford and his legal assistant were out of the office. Needless to say, I would never recommend Sanford to anyone. I wanted to attempt to change lawyers before reaching a settlement but came to learn that we were too far into the case for it to be worthwhile so I tolerated working with them until the end. I would highly recommend you go to a larger firm that is better at meeting your needs.

Do not choose this firm to represent you! They failed time and again to contact me with pertinent information as they said they would. It took me calling and leaving messages repeatedly before they would get back to me. nOn January 8, 2018, I was told by Nicole (the paralegal) that a letter they wrote on my behalf would be finished by January 12th, and that she would contact me. She didn't finish the letter until February, and I was the one to contact them to get the details.nAgain, on February 2, 2018, I went to their office to sign documents and was told my check would be availble March 8th or 9th (and of course that she would contact me). I called the 7th, the 8th, and 9th, left messages, yet received no response. On the 9th I received their answering service. I was told that Nicole was in the office but only taking messages. I went to their office in person at 3:00, and noone was there.nZeitz is conveniently out of town until April. nI'm wondering if they are even going to give me my money due to me.nThis list of the ways they were incompetent isn't even complete, but do you really need more to decide NOT to hire them?nnI am contacting the Oregon State Bar to report their practices.

Sanford and Nicole are an absolutely wonderful team. In an overwhelming situation, they took over my law suit for me, dealt with all the paperwork needed, and gave me the best of the best legal advice. I continually refer people to Sanford, and in the situations that he doesn't feel like he could strongly represent on particular topics outside of his expertise, he always knows who the best choice would be. Such a wonderful and amazing connection to have. I will continue to refer to him for many years to come.
