Alan P Byrd Attorney At LAW

Reviews

Mr. Byrd is without a doubt the worst criminal defense attorney in Miami. On my first court date he kept me and the court waiting for an hour and a half while he went to the bank to cash my check. When I got the cancelled check back the time stamp was 9:45 at a branch 45 minutes drive from the courthouse. He showed up very late for every hearing and was very unfamiliar with the particulars of the case. He hung me out to dry and I was convicted of a felony when the state attorney had informally agreed to reduce it to a misdemeanor because he refused to call the State attorney and make a plea offer. At the very last moment, I believe he lied when he showed up for court, I asked him if he had contacted the SA about my plea offer and he said yes he had but that the SA turned it down. Then, Their reading the charges and asking for my plea and he turns to the SA and asks for a relief the SA was not willing to grant. Almost as if, I was not standing right there next to him, and didn't see him just do that.. which was also a different relief than I asked him to offer. The SA stated it was too late and I am now dealing with the severe consequences of a felony conviction on my record. I believe Mr. Byrd never actually defended me, never contacted the SA and made a plea offer. He only provided a live body by showing up three times. If Mr. Byrd did not want to actually defend my case he should not have taken my money. I can not be more emphatic my opinion that any potential client avoid Mr. Byrd for any matter, especially criminal matters. In my opinion Mr. Byrd is lazy, absent-minded, and greedy. Update: When a probation issue came up a few months later, Mr. Byrd had the unmitigated completely inappropriate gall to contact me and offer his services to me again. Most importantly informing me that it would be additional fee. He is the worst attorney I have ever had the personal misfortune of coming into contact with.
