Law Office Of David C Watts

Reviews

I should have took the time to thoroughly read the reviews on this Law Office. The negative reviews sound so familiar to my own experience. Aaron is the lawyer who is representing me in a child support case and modification of custody. (Which was mutually agreed upon with my ex wife). The amount of money already paid is absolutely insane. Especially for the minimal amount of work being completed. I had a hearing at the beginning of the month and Aaron had a trial that day so another associate from the law office came on his behalf. Her name is Keri. She was double booked in court that morning. In an email string with her and DCSS she had already let them know she is at another case that morning and will let them know when it is done. Yet I got billed .8 hours for her “working my case” and waiting to be heard in court. Which is so ridiculous. Apparently it is your responsibility to pay another clients bill. I reached out to Aaron letting him know to stop work immediately on my case and let him know why I was dissatisfied. He escalated it to David Martin who has done nothing but make excuses for Keri and fabricate her time. Then tells me to discuss it with her. How do you discuss anything with people who are willing to lie? He already admitted she calculated it wrong and was willing to deduct $255. This behavior is unacceptable. If you want terrible representation and to get cheated out of your hard earned money hire this law firm. I would never recommend them. Update: Because the law office never completed and filed the substitution of attorney form with the court the stipulation that my ex wife and I signed cannot be filed. Not only did they inaccurately bill me they didn’t complete the services they were hired for. David Martin has been zero help in this matter. In fact, he was told by my ex wife that his attorney was not being truthful about her time spend in court. I have never seen anything so unprofessional. The attorney has been reported to the state board for misconduct. On top of that David Martin has not tried to resolve this matter as he mentions in the review response.
From day 1, working with my lawyer Aaron Kaslan, has been astounding. I always felt valued and heard as a client. He’s extremely timely on keeping in touch about your case and will walk you through each step. To say I got the results that I wanted…is an understatement. I would absolutely recommend him to all my family and friends!!
Aaron Kaslan has been a great resource and asset thus far. He has been extremely honest with us and that has been a huge blessing since our case is extremely complex. I would highly recommend Mr. Kaslan to anyone.
BEWARE - We had a 30 minute consultation with Keri Firth for $50.00. A couple days later, I called with the intentions of retaining limited services to review court docs that I had completed. Keri said we can hire her for limited scope, I don't recall the fee for that, but then she said for full representation it would cost $3,500 for retainer that goes into an account to draw down from as it's earned. ME: Oh, that's for you guys to do everything? KERI: Yes, it will only cost more if the case gets drawn out. She goes on.to say that after 45 days we'll be charged $500/month. So I agreed to the full representation. Maybe I was naive, I thought that included EVERYTHING for 45 days. Only 1 week after hiring them they requested $425 for filing fees. Then a couple days later they requested $500 for court investigator fees. I paid both. Then only 2 weeks after retaining their services we appear at the first hearing. Keri did a horrible job representing our case. I'm waiting for the court transcripts before I comment further on that. The next mornong I emailed Keri to inform her to STOP all work on our case and send me my final bill and since it had only been 2 weeks I fully expected to have a portion of our $3,500 retainer returned. Instead I received a bill of over $6,000. So balance due of over $1,600. I'd like to add that after just one week, we were already over $3,500 but never did they inform us. It wasn't till I fired them and got my final bill did I find out. Who knows how much would have been racked up over the next couple of weeks before they send out their monthly bill. So my questions that I emailed and havent received a response: 1. Does Keri deny stating it would only cost more than $3,500.00 if the case got drawn out? 2. Was it just lack of experience on Keri's part to not request a larger retainer fee? 3. Or were we intentionally mislead about the cost? We were only 2 weeks in and the cost is over $6,000.00. We were NEVER given any indication that we were anywhere close to using up the $3,500.00. I have emailed David Martin about waiving the $1,600 balance. He agreed to waive half. That is not acceptable to me. I do not want to pay them another dime. They already took me for nearly $4,500. I'll post details of poor job later. Besides posting my story everywhere possible, my next step is a complaint to the State Bar.
Aaron Kesler of David A Martin was able to successfully handle a sensitive legal matter for us in spite of a chaotic situation. He was sensitive to our needs and let us know what we needed to know each step of the way.
