Ernest made what could have been a long stressful process very enjoyable. The environment he created while working together can be described as calm, professional, and comfortable. I went into mediation with an expectation of a 5% chance of coming to a resolution. After a full day with Ernest going after hours we were able to come up with a solution that avoided court, additional costs, and resolved the situation to the satisfaction of all parties concerned. Ernest Karam was the third mediator I've experienced in family law and after my experience yesterday, I realize I took the other two for granted. My brother is going through a terrible divorce and the last thing he needed was his mediator's derision and condescension. I thought Mr Karam was dismissive and disrespectful - and even told him that. He didn't see fit to change, even when my brother expressed a similar sentiment. At every point, he seemed to be a barrier to communication, not a facilitator. I did not get the impression that he took the time to understand the situation - instead choosing to oversimplify, judge, and manipulate. It was as if we were entering boot camp and he was going to strike a deal by beating us down so we would accept whatever. He even laughed at my brother's business being in the red and called anyone who would do that an idiot. Another time, after dismissing the ledger we had prepared, he quickly created one with a marker that showed my brother's side adding up to more than the other - and then proceeded to deride us for those numbers not being equal. He waved the paper in our face in an agitated fashion and asked repeatedly if the numbers were the same. And yet, the final offer he left on the table as we exited resulted in the numbers being even FURTHER apart. If only I had that piece of paper so I could ask him the same thing he asked us! I would NEVER again trust Mr Karam with anything important or precious to me or anyone I care about.

Used Ernest as our mediator for a difficult child custody dispute. He was able to help us reach an agreement we were all happy with and avoid further litigation. I would definitely recommend him!
