The child support office needs to improve their systems. They do not update their records that reflect current payment status, charge interest for arrears that do not exist, and ignore (or delay) processing court judgments. Texas (Ken Paxton) needs to do a better job implementing software that will allow records to be updated instead of assigning people on the phones to just react with apathetic statements such as "Well, there isn't anything I can do." There is a complete lack of ownership and accountability in this bureaucracy. Everything is bigger and better in Texas? Yeah, right.

One of the rudest and most incompetent group of people I have ever had to deal with. I contacted the office to understand and PAY whatever child support was pending during the transition from divorce to paying the Child Support. It did not matter that it had gone through my employer, the fact is that child support was not making through. I wanted to pay and quickly encountered someone on the phone who began to demean me as if I were trying to avoid being a father !!! It did not matter what I told them, this person continued on and on. I payed with my personal checks and sent all the data they requested 3 times. The data indicated I actually over paid but I continued to receive threatening letters through the mail. I finally contacted my state senator and over night all was resolved. T his place SUCKS.

California child support worker has been trying to get help from Texas child support office. Seems Texas is working for and protecting the absent parents that run away to other states to hide from obligations. This office needs an internal investigation conducted on it's entire staff.

Dealing with state bureaucracy is a nightmare. Our appointment was 2 hours for something that could be resolved with decent technology. The OAG treats every father like they are deadbeats. Even when they do their best. The 20% of your net income is fine but it doesn't allow people to live a decent life if they are working a low wage job. If dad's can't afford their rent how are they supposed to be better parents. Avoid going in if you can help it. If you get along with your ex this is better than attorneys but it still sucks.

I am the custodial parent and was brought in to reduce child support. It wound up getting increased. This was over a year ago, I have been calling them every 1-2 months to find out when I will see that increase and they have been absolutely no help. I have left 3 messages with supervisor and spoke to numerous workers. I continue to get the run around. They even tried to move my case to another county, ex and I both live in the Houston Texas area, This would have would have been nice 5 years ago, when we tried to do this and was the judge declined.
