Me and my wife went to Dr. Rice for marriage and personal counseling for a few months. He charges $150 a session, so we were hoping for very worth while meetings. After my third or fourth personal session, in which Dr. Rice spent upwards of 20 minutes per session talking about totally unrelated topics, I decided I was throwing my money away. We only had a few marriage counseling sessions, and again loads of our time wasted on random topics. His style is basically to listen for a minute or so and then lecture either my wife or myself, constantly telling us how imatture we are. A very terrible listener, not congenial at all. He also has his dog in the office and in the sessions, and interupts sessions to take her out to pee, or give her treats or attention. There is dog hair all over the office. You will get a half hour of his attention to your issues at most, and won't get much resolution as he shames you. Spend your money else where.

I have known Dr. Rice for about 25 years. First, he helped me through postpartum depression, then through a serious bout of clinical depression. Since then he has helped me and given me advice for family problems, marriage problems, and any other problems that have come up along the way. He helped me learn more effective ways of dealing with our children, and I feel that without his help our family life would be very unhappy. I like to talk to him, he is very nice. Dr. Rice also has his dog, Maya, with him to help clients feel more comfortable. I highly recommend Dr. Rice for help with any problem you might have in your life. Many thanks to you Dr. Rice for your care and concern throughout the years!

I have seen Dr. Rice on and off for several years. Dr. Rice has helped me work through depression, given me tools to deal with OCD and stress, helped me to enhance my relationship with my parents, and given me suggestions to improve my work life and dealings with coworkers. I am glad I met Dr. Rice and was able to take advantage of his experience in psychology. And I love his therapy dog!

I was a patient of his over 25 years ago and he assisted me and regaining control of my life and helped me get back on the right path,. For I worked in mental health at the time and had to deal with many different attitudes from professionals as well as the mentally ill. We became friends as I journeyed through the hardships of my life at the time. I thought I'd look him up to see how He was doing and I'm glad to see that he still in business and helping people of all walks of life. For I am a native and have experienced all of the racial segregation and discrimination that could be possible for one to endure . And when I think of those days it still brings a smile to my face... Congratulations on keeping sanity in your part of the world. Your old friend Waukon.. Ps. God has been with me through it all as always and I still have a smile on my face ,it is a magnificent life...

So I decide I need help dealing with depression following my Mom's passing last year, I'm on the cusp of losing everything, so I call Dr. Rice to make an appointment. He's out at lunch, totally blows me off, tells me to call him later that afternoon, it was 2pm. Is this what one would expect from a PhD level depression therapist? I don't think so.
