I, like so many out there, had no idea how complex the process is for receiving VA benefits. While my father served in the armed forces and was entitled to the benefits, the required documentation is daunting. The Veterans Administration makes this tough enough for any able-bodied person. Those with reduced mental capacity, due to dementia or other issues, have almost no chance. However, Mr. Miller, Lisa Swann, and his staff put the odds back in favor of the veterans and their families. Navigating the sea of documents would have been exceeding difficult, and perhaps impossible, without the ongoing assistance of Merwyn Miller. While I initially would have scoffed at the suggestion of using an attorney to file for the Aid & Assistance benefits, but as it turns out it is highly recommended and truly beneficial. Beyond ensuring the documents were filled out correctly, and in a timely fashion, Mr. Miller provided insight into the process and limited our expectations. The “hand holding” made this lengthy VA ordeal tolerable. Additionally, Mr. Miller is diligent in correcting our self-inflicted missteps. When it comes to an important personal matter, like the care of a family member, the stress levels can be high and tempers can be short. Fortunately, Mr. Miller is able to keep everything on an even keel. Having years of experience in both the process of obtaining VA benefits and in dealing with those in need, I think he’s seen it all. His experience shines brightly. In the end, we finally got the Aid & Assistance for my dad! In a perfect world, the Veterans Administration would make obtaining the A&A a simple and efficient process. Until that time comes, Mr. Miller and his team are as good as gold!
