I hired attorney Thomas Rutledge in late 2011 for help in an employment situation. I hadn't even thought about him in years until his name started showing up on my Facebook friends suggestion feed. I was just going to try to forget him again until my sense of justice kicked in. What follows is an objective, honest narrative of my experience with Mr. Rutledge. Our relationship started off poorly and then got worse from there. During our initial phone conversation, I discovered that Mr. Rutledge considers screaming at a potential client an acceptable method of professional communication. The reason I decided to continue to seek his help was that I was referred to him by a friend, his office was close, and I was having difficulty finding another attorney who would take my case on contingency. During our initial meeting, he & I spent about an hour and a half composing a demand letter for my former employer. After I read the completed letter it seemed to me that his verbage was over inflammatory and his demands were ridiculous. I addressed that with him and he patronizingly suggested that I shut up because he was the professional. I left regular messages for him after that initial meeting and it usually took him about two weeks to return a call. His demand letter was completely ignored by the defendant, and, as far as I can tell, Mr. Rutledge made no further attempts to contact them. I finally fired him about a year later. If you check out my other reviews on Google & Facebook, you'll see that I'm not a chronic complainer. Almost all of my reviews are 4 and 5 stars.I think the lowest rating I've ever given any business has been 3 stars.
