Law Offices Of David L. Mccarthy

I was referred to Attorney McCarthy by the San Diego County Bar Association. I reached out to him via the “Contact” function of his web page. I never heard back from him. Unfortunately, I found this to be all too common with local attorneys. I had the idea attorneys were referred by bar associations or lawyer referral services at their request, out of desire for a greater number of clients. I must be mistaken - I feel I’ve got a strong case, and I’m ready today to pay the standard amount for their retainer. I don’t understand why I’m having a difficult time retaining an attorney.

The fact that several weeks have passed since MY initial correspondence Mr. McCarthy never completed consultation after he received CONFIDENTIAL info, Mr. McCarthy never responded to correspondence. Very unethical will file complaint with bar. Would NEVER retain this lawyer as his negligence would stand for a lawyer who could potentially “back door” me. I feel race and ethnicity preference is to how Mr. McCartney operates. What other reason could this gentleman have, I bet he’ll say he was sick or on vacation and proceed to disrespect my time. Should NOT be recommended by the bar for attorney services.

I was recommend via the bar and lawyer referral group. As this was a consulting at this time. I was very impressed with the answers and how fast he got back to me. Faster then anyone else I called today. If I do have this legal issues with this apt I will contact him. I highly recommend you choose him as well. So far seams like a person that gets things done and is super helpful.

Ready to win? Mr. McCarthy knows the law and helped me with a landlord from hell case. He cited all the laws being broken by my former landlord and helped with communication between us until I was able to move out. I'm very comfortable using Mr. McCarthy for his services and would highly recommend him.

He did everything wrong. I came to him for assistance with a small claims matter; I was suing my former building manager and property management company and had no idea how to go about doing it. I came to him for legal advice because he is a lawyer. He put together all the paperwork on the spot and that alone should have been a red flag. I thought he would want to review the complaint information I brought along before putting together the lawsuit. I hadn't planned on spending HOURS in his office while he put this thing together on the fly, but that's what he wanted and he charged me about $600.00 that I had to pay on the spot. When I got home and reviewed it, ALL the paperwork was in error: he put in incorrect dates, incorrect names, left one of the main parties out of the lawsuit altogether, used the wrong penal/legal codes, left out critical information, etc. It was a disaster. I corrected the errors I could find, returned the paperwork to him for corrections, and he STILL gave me back incorrect paperwork! I had to proof-read and return his work THREE TIMES and it still wasn't right! That is not what I was paying him for because I am not a lawyer; I don't know this stuff. After the 3rd batch of mistakes I gave up and used what he gave me as a template to create my own lawsuit...and I won...sort of. He gave me the wrong penal codes!! So while I proved my case, the court wasn't able to grant me money because he used the penal code that only applies if the landlord enters your home without permission or something along that line. That was not the situation in my lawsuit, so even though I won, I wasn't granted any money. I am not a lawyer so I didn't know which penal code is which; that is why I went to him. I told him what happened at court and instead of filing a correction--a possibility that I was unaware of since I am not a lawyer--he just said, "Oh well." He made no effort to correct his mistakes and didn't even tell me correcting it was possible bt filing a correction with the courts! It was the court's small claims legal adviser (a FREE service) that told me that I could file a correction and what paperwork was required to do it. Going to Mr. McCarthy was a waste of time and money. He is utterly incompetent.
