Horrible experience. Hired Genevieve Suzuki for a time sensitive and tense DV custody and divorce case, and I emphasized to her the extreme importance that I receive adequate representation (life or death, custody of my child, dealing with an abuser, etc). She was the only financially reasonable lawyer I could find, as I was unable to get pro-bono assistance. The only paperwork Genevieve filed for me in court was paperwork stating she was substituting as my attorney. Since I retained her almost five months ago, she has promised to file multiple requests for orders to get the courts back in my favor as the abused parent/spouse. She has no problem billing you, but absolutely no time to work for you or communicate with you. Please do not work with her. Each time you speak to her, you will be forced to rehash your entire case from start to finish including updates because she cannot be bothered to keep notes or tabs on her cases. I don’t know where these positive reviews are coming from, because the negative ones are legit. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my funds back for services not rendered and I’m on my own in court unfortunately. What an unnecessary waste of time.

With family law being the most unfair platforms to negotiate child, custody and divorce, I have to say that Genevieve, is a true hero when it comes to navigating this field. I had one of the most difficult and heartbreaking custody/DV survivors cases you could possibly imagine. Historically, family-court puts all DV survivor’s who are in high conflict divorces…”into the Trenches.” Having an attorney who was able to help navigate all of the legal manipulations, judges…who just kicked the can down the road, Supervision, scandals and stalking…to name a few, was what we were dealing with. Genevieve knew exactly how patient we needed to be and when to make the best move that was best suited. I previously had lawyers who promised the world to me, but instead took my money, and did nothing at all. Genevieve knows the law and is incredibly smart and bright in every way you need a lawyer to be. She has a good heart and a sharp edge that consistently makes headway both ethically and in an eloquently manner that allowed me to stand strong and believe in myself and the process. I hope that lawyers in this field can follow her lead in this very tumultuous area of law. The world needs ten thousand more Genevieve Suzuki’s so that family law can become a solution for peace instead of a platform for violence and hatred against women and children. The person I have become because of what I went through, doesn’t define my future or my children’s future. I think that Genevieve helped me believe in that and gave me the confidence to make decisions in my life with a sound mind , and not with a spirit of fear. I wanted my divorce to be fair, and not combative. I wanted a lawyer who would follow my lead in tone and style. I know, if needed, Genevieve would have been as assertive and tenacious as I needed her to be, but she was just the right blend of understanding and steadfast professionalism that I required. She answered so many of my questions. She did an excellent job in preparing my paperwork. A court case involves numerous steps and extensive paperwork. Temporary bottlenecks will occur, exacerbating an already emotional journey. However, Genevieve skillfully navigated these obstacles, providing invaluable emotional support throughout the process. I'm very happy with her services and highly recommend.

Attorney Suzuki was phenomenal in assisting us through an extensive process! She had the utmost positive attitude and was very gracious in meeting our needs! Dereliction of duty is an understatement. I watched a loved one waste a year with this attorney and has 0 to show for it. Malpractice suit forthcoming .Good luck you're being reported to the bar. God help La Mesa. If she runs a city like her practice you guys are screwed!
