Dr. Shammas is really nice. If you could skip the front desk and go straight to her, I would recommend seeing her. Unfortunately, you have to deal with her assistant, Bobby, who has been nothing but unpleasant each time I have interacted with her. The final nail in the coffin for me was when they lost the record of my payment, tried to charge me again, and then Bobby was completely unapologetic while she demanded that I send proof of payment to her personal yahoo email address. I won't be going back because of her.
She was once a very caring and great doctor, but since i saw her twice in private practice she totally dropped the ball while I was bleeding internally, which she discovered through blood tests in February, 2017. She sent me to an incompetent nurse practitioner in Santa Monica and then insisted I have an endoscopy in an out patient clinic, BTW, this is the way Joan Rivers died, so I refused an endoscopy in an out patient setting.nI returned to my doctors at Cedars Sinai and Dr. Jeffrey Sherman and had the test done in the hospital, which, I recommend to all. She never returned my phone calls and put errors on my medical records including the total fabrication that I smoke, which affects my insurance rates, and I have NEVER smoked and am, in fact, allergic to tobacco. nShe also put down that I had cystitis, but offered no proof through lab tests of this and never treated me for this so called condition and I have a fine urologist Dr. Philip Yalowitz who has never diagnosed me with cystitis.. In addition, her staff of one, Bobbie, is totally rude and dismissive. I have requested corrections to my medical records, a minimum of 8 times, both verbally and in writing and have yet to receive same as Bobbie, who works for her says she is studying for her medical boards as of last week, which to me seems high curious as I have made multiple requests for now almost over one month for these corrections, but have been ignored. Furthermore, she keeps a part-time schedule, so she is not available and again did not when I was in dire need return my phone calls. My next stop is the California Medical Board if my medical records written by Dr, Shammas and are incorrect and libelous, are not corrected, an explanation is sent to me as to why she wrote these fallacious things in my medical records and corrects them and faxes and mails same to me no later then the end of this week. I am horribly disappointed and angry that she would do this to me after I knew her from the L.A. Free Clinic from over 20 years ago. nFurthermore, I have a problem with any doctor who sends patients to certain locations which may , in fact, provide them with incentives for doing so, but are not in the best interests of their patients. It is too bad when the desire for financial gain supersedes any patient's needs as their sworn oath is to "first do no harm" nNow my medical records, which she has written significant and untrue errors on could affect my insurance and as a disabled senior citizen and a brain tumor survivor with multiple other medical conditions, I find this behavior not only egregious but probably unethical. We will let the California Medical Board decide the matter because if my CORRECTED records are not and sent to me this week, Dr. Shammas will leave me with no other option then to file a formal complaint against her.
Great doctor, efficient office! Dr. Shammas has a great bedside manner, and has always been knowledgeable and effective in treating me. Would definitely recommend!
Best doctor I've ever had.
Dr. Shammas is an amazing internal medicine doctor. She gives great attention and time to her patients. It is like having "Concierge Medical Service" but with out the high fees and costs. Thank you Dr. Shammas for your great help and service.
