These 4-5 star reviews have GOT to be fake. Horrible law firm. I was a client of Freedom Debt Relief who uses McCarthy law to handle creditors who take legal action. After placing my account with Freedom Debt Relief in December 2020, this January 4, 2022, I was served papers for a Discover card I placed with them. Trying to contact Freedom Debt Relief from the beginning. Hoping to avoid a court date set for February 10, 2022. Every time I called Freedom, who, mind you, has hired McCarthy to help in these situations, never seemed to have any information or contact with McCarthy. Freedom could email McCarthy to let them know I would like a call back regarding this matter. But they could never call anyone or had any information regarding the case. All I heard was, "It's with McCarthy Law Firm now. So you'll have to contact them directly". Feeling frustrated I called the law firm Discover was using (Rodenberg), only to find out McCarthy now Freedom have attempted to make contact with the Rodenberg. I call Freedom back, because I never received a response from McCarthy, only to have someone tell me McCarthy made two attempts to contact Rodenberg Law Firm to negotiate a settlement. Then I call back a little while later and someone tells me they have no idea if McCarthy made any attempts to contact Rodenberg. After several attempts, with the same merry-go-round outcome, hoping to get this settled. It's now the day of my court hearing, and I am literally sitting in the courtroom, only the get a call from some guy at McCarthy, telling me they made a settlement, FOR THE FULL AMOUNT. I was floored. I waited for the judge and Rodenberg's lawyer and we discussed a settlement for $600 less then the full amount. NOW Freedom has told me I need to removed the account from the program. Which I gladly did. And McCarthy is NOW saying they represent me, kind of odd, and Rodenberg (Discover's Law Firm) cannot discuss the settlement with me until McCarthy sends them a release letter. What a joke. I also found out, during all this, Freedom takes 35% of your monthly payment each month. Stay away from these two companies. I feel they were settling for the full amount, and not negotiating late fees, etc., because it's more money % they make off the account. They prey on people in financial hardships. You'd be better off going with Vinny, the loan shark.

I called, because I was in a student debt nightmare. They were very helpful and knowledgeable. Helping me settle my student loan. Joan and her team did an amazing job. I would refer them to anyone. As far as they know and I know... Nothing else is further owed to Sallie Mae/navient. They are still there to help if my student loan tries to ever contact me. I appreciate this team of professional individuals.

I typically would not start off by saying " I had the pleasure to work with an attorney" but after working with Kevin of McCarthy Law I can honestly say it was a great experience. They were straight forward and honest about their recommended approach. Too many attorneys get caught up in wanting to bill more or avoid giving a straight forward answer but this was not the case with McCarthy Law. I truly felt they cared about me as a person and empathized with my situation I felt a lot less like a client and more like a friend who was on the receiving end of great legal advice. That being said they were bulldogs with the other side which is exactly what I needed.
