Money wasted. She was almost always late for court. Did the bare minimum with my kids father case. Had so much evidence showing he was innocent that she did not show the courts. Forced him to plead out to his case which got him 8 years in prison. Definitely wished we would have done more research before hiring her. The justice system is systemic and truly unfair.

If I could give her negative stars I would We hired Ms. Kohler to do my fiancé's case she was not a good choice she told my fiance to plea guilty to get 3 to 5 yrs what he ended up getting was 30 years and that wasn't even remotely expected in the cards bc she said if he didn't plea guilty he could get that so my fiance listened to her and pled guilty and got 30 years out of no where my fiance did all the work he could from inside the jail giving her his case on a silver platter w references from real cases similar to his case she would say she was going to meet with him and wouldn't she wouldn't answer anything in a timely manner EVER! SHE WAITED TO DO EVERYTHING UNTILL THE LAST MINUTE. Even when it was time to go.to court she literally was late and they had to do a zoom call with her from her house. The prosicuter brought up information in my fiancé's case that shouldn't have been brought up she didn't object to it she didn't do her job at all she in my opinion a horrible lawyer don't hire her at all. If you want the case won that is.

I'm giving this review not out of pure emotions, but as fore-warning to the next person who may be seeking legal representation and doesn't want to get burnt. This attorney makes a lot of false promises, she does not deliver the services she initially speaks of when looking to hire her. She does not have an office making it extremely difficult to contact her. She does not communicate, avoids calls/text messages, not only from family but from the clients as well. She is only attentive and corresponds when she is seeking payment. When paid she does not provide contracts nor receipts to prove her services being rendered to you. My family member sat for months in jail never getting a physical visit regarding the case. She had an ample amount of time to prepare for the case and did not do it. Instead there was personal issue after personal issue excuse after excuse etc. I overheard her assistant who works out of the law library in the Marion County Court House state some very disturbing personal issues with her, but I tried to not let that discourage us. Overall, I just would recommend her. She pretty much stiffed us and knew she was stiffing us and still had no regard. Despite my concerns about this woman, my family member did not fire her because of lack of knowledge. This experience has definitely been a lesson learned. This our first time having to go through such turmoil and unfortunately we learned the hard way.

I hired Melanie year half ago. She's AMAZING. She answered almost every single time I called, (I understand she can't always answer there are times she is busy in court, with other clients, or just busy with life in general)but she came through for me. Got me a WAYYYY better deal then a anyone else was gonna get me, and most definitely got me a better deal then what the PD was gonna get me. When Mel came to me and told me what my deal was which I was ok with and then the HUGEEEEE surprise she gave me with it!!! She so how by the grace of God, worked her fabulous magic and got me all these extra days that I didn't even know existed, plus got all my charges to be run Concurrent, & I remember I kept telling her that I just wanted to make sure I was home before Christmas so I would be able to help my family with getting my kids their Christmas stuff. Mel reassured me that not only would I be home before Christmas, but I'd be home before Halloween too!!!! I couldn't believe the amount of days served she had gotten me. Most Attorneys don't do that. They don't go over and beyond for their clients to help reassure their fears, but Mel did. I constantly recommend her anytime I hear that anyone needs an attorney, I tell em to call up Melanie Kohler, best attorney in my book. God forbid I ever get into any trouble again, she'll be my 1st call. She's definitely worth the money. You can't hound her either. Ya'll gotta remember something, if you do hire her, You are not her only case. Most Attorneys, Good ones, like Mel, during the day are EXTREMELY |MASSIVELY busy. She has to go to court, has to see clients, meetings and yes she still needs to have a itsy bitsy bit of a life besides work, so she cannot be available 24|7. I understood that when I hired her. And that's not just for her thats for every single attorney. Sorry for the mini novel as a review, its just id STILL be rotting away in PRISON if it wasn't for Mel. She's an amazing Attorney! Anyone who say any different is just mad because things didn't go the exact way they wanted it to go and now they are looking for someone to blame. Thanks again for everything Mel!!!

I used her for my case when I thought prison was for sure going to happen and let's just say I was very happy and impressed with the outcome of what happened in court so I've gotta say I highly recommend her to anyone needing an attorney who gets the job done.
