I am mom to two special needs girls that were previously evaluated by Dr Michael Santa Maria. I found him to be a very thorough and knowledgeable doctor. This is why I turned to him for help with an assessment for myself, post car accident. I got my written results today, and I was so relieved to read it! I am very very happy with my assessment. Many thanks, once again, for another positive experience with this doctor and his staff. Highly recommend!

If you’re looking for Adult Testing please save yourself the headache and time and DO NOT go here. One star is honestly generous considering the mistreatment I endured by Dr. Maria. The only tolerable part of my testing was with my technician who performed the 6 hour test. I was told that my appointment with the Doctor was going to complete the test. He asked me arbitrary questions that weren’t even relevant to the issue at hand being the developmental disability: Autism. When he asked me my opinion about my diagnosis (which i personally think is unprofessional, misleading, belittling and uncalled for) he did not like my answer and began arguing with me. When i mentioned that the tests were focused on child-like behavior, the age ranges were far too large to be inclusive, i mentioned the language was non-inclusive and the behaviors they described were also non-inclusive because if Autism is a spectrum then the questions and testing should reflect an answer of spectrums but they don’t. He quickly got angry and defensive, made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I then realized his education or idea of Autism is EXTREMELY outdated to which he didn’t take kindly at all. My appointment was nothing but 20 minutes when i was told it was going to be 2 hours. It was a waste of my time, it left me upset and exhausted and he showed no empathy, no class and no kindness. If i knew how to report someone’s medical license I would. He doesn’t deserve one.

Not sure what’s with the bad reviews. I haven’t received my results yet but I was not expecting someone so amicable to shake my hand after reading what people had to say. Him and the staff were both friendly and took their time listening to me and allowing me to take breaks. I even had a migraine and had to go get coffee in the middle of the test. There was also no wait. Dr. Santa Maria did correct me about some terms like others had said but in an informative way rather than egotistical. Seems like people just didn’t like their results and are a bit confused about what a neuropsych eval is intended to measure. Update: Received my results back and happy to finally be on the right track with treatment. I walked out of there with a severe diagnosis, and was never once told it was related to previous drug use, I wasn’t discounted for having a few friends or attending higher education, nor did he tell me I was trying to get a government check. Breathing a sigh of relief for having closure after years of suffering. My own therapist knew Dr Santa Maria’s name and said he is highly recommended. If you want genuine results, rather than confirmation bias, this is the place you should go. After reading the reviews again there is something that I would like to add as a psychology major: Dr Santa Maria did NOT DESIGN THESE TESTS. These are standard tests that you will take anywhere else, and yes I will agree that the questions lack construct validity, but that is not the Dr’s fault.

I brought my son in not looking for a diagnosis, just answers & help, whether that was a diagnosis or not. We suspected he might have ADHD and has been struggling in school because of it. He is very smart, but his lack of attention makes it hard for him to do schoolwork. We met with the Dr. for a brief amount of time, he seemed very kind and to the point, then my son went in for testing for a few hours. He said he had a good experience. We got the results mailed to us within two weeks or less and I’m so happy to finally have answers. Overall, I’m very pleased with this doctor and his staff.

ABSOLUTELY the worst Dr for Autism Diagnosis... My son Matthew now 20 was so misdiagnosed by Dr Santa Maria .. who knows nothing about Neurology or was BOTTOM of his class. That my son wound up in a coma now has to have brain surgery and finally properly diagnosed. Malpractice need to be done taking insurance money and my money to be misdiagnosed. Get out of the Medical Profession before you wind up having a patient DIE. My son almost did .. Degraff hospital at that time you were at .. you by far we're not equipped to even understand any seizure .. my son has cysts in brain and tumors autism seizures .. you couldn't even diagnose.. your testing is by far not for proper diagnostic!! STEP DOWN ???? my son is very sick due to YOU!!! Worst Dr I've ever come across!!!!;
