I needed a commercial lease agreement so I contacted Daron Tong and gave him the necessary information for the lease. He said, “$1000.00 should do it”. When reviewing a draft of the lease agreement with my tenant, I did not realize how difficult it was to comprehend the language of his lease. My tenant asked why it wasn’t the standard California Association of Realtors lease agreement used. I didn’t know then, but I know now. With the confusing language in his custom agreement comes more questions and then more charges. After looking at a few draft revisions, the lease agreement was finally signed by both parties at the end of June 2018. I made my final payment. End of story? Nope. On January 16, 2019 I got an email from Daron Tong’s office requesting an additional $530.00. I asked why I was charged more than what I was told initially. The secretary said that there were additional charges that were not billed. I asked why I had not been informed in the past six months that there were additional fees after the lease was signed and that I was being billed now. The secretary said, “It was an oversight by our accounts receivable”. Really, for six months? Advice: Look for another real estate attorney that’s straight up and organized.
