The Florida Office of Public Counsel is an important state agency. It represents consumers in utility rate cases. The key role the office plays is it provides legal advocacy for consumers against much larger, and richer, utility companies. During my 19 years working for the Florida Legislature we had frequent contact with the attorneys who provided guidance and legal advice in not only open utility rate cases, but also in the preparation of legislation.
