My mom came in to ER on Sunday, today is Wednesday. Currently my mom is in the "holding room" because there are no beds available in the hospital or rehab center. She came in because she unable to walk due to a pinched nerve. Bedside manor from the nurses has been horrible the patient next to her checked himself out because he felt forgotten.... Patients have asked for pudding, jello, and coffee. The nurses tell them their out, so they get nothing until breakfast, lunch and dinner. Today my mom waited for lunch, which sat on the counter so long, by the time she got it, it was cold. I just got off the phone with my mom, who has been sitting on her bed pan for so long, it's hurting her. I called the nurses station to let them know. Unfortunately my mom is now afraid her lack of help will get worse. Ruby and Loraine are her nurses.... I'm hoping admin can train yheor staff better. This is ridiculous. I'm hours away and relying on your staff to take good care of my mom.... My grandma spent a lot of time there before her passing, and we always received great care. What's going on Desert Regional?
Came to the ER to get checked for a possible concussion. Walked in extremely dizzy and had 2 recurring nose bleeds. Heard a man come in for food poisoning after many other patients including me, and was seen almost immediately. I waited 2 hours before I was even triaged by a nurse. Also doesn’t help that the registration in the front and the nurse taking ID cards was talking and cursing about patients. I’ve worked in an ER before and I know that patients shouldn’t be waiting 2 hours to have vital signs taken. Unprofessional to say the least. Those that work in health care should also display empathy toward their patients. Which this hospitals ethics are clearly lacking. Do better.
I was seen here last year after having a trimalleolar fracture, and I have never received such good medical care in my life. My previous accident happened in the workers comp system and I spent months begging for care unsuccessfully. When I came here I felt like top priority the second I came through the door. They did everything instantly from imaging, to surgery, to pain meds etc. My nurses were freaking amazing. My follow up care from the hospital (Desert Care Network) has been wonderful. I had my first surgery with Dr Stabile and can tell he did a great job. When I had some concerns about mobility they scheduled surgery with Dr Swenning to remove hardware within days. Scott Peery is great too. The one advice I would have for anyone who has left a bad review is to use people's name and say please/thank you. I was extremely happy and thankful to be at the hospital after having a helicopter bring me down from the mountains. I made sure to say thank you to everyone...even the janitors who came for trash got love. The other miraculous thing for healing is walking backwards. My PT was ok and my foot was a bit off until I started walking backwards on a small hill by my house. By walking slowly and steadily (backwards) I felt the small stabilizers in my feet and ankles build strength daily. I had a really bad break and I'm a lot better now. I think this is a great facility with great people!
Wish I could give zero stars. I came into the ER with severe abdominal and back pain. When I finally got my results they were so severe and life threatening, they wanted to keep me to do gallbladder surgery but first needed to do an MRI that took 2 days to get. So I was starved until then. It wasn’t even guaranteed I’d get a surgery for another few days. I was fed up and asked to be discharged since the pain had eased. They then charged my insurance 50k when I was in network. The staff were nice and clearly overworked but this hospital is crooked and only after milking your insurance. Go anywhere else but here!
I was transported here by ambulance because i had a severe knee infection. The hospital i was at was not equipped to handle my situation. Dr Zapf at Desert Regional operated on my knee and i was up and walking the next day, my pain was very minimal, i could bend my knee as well which was something i couldn't do after my last knee surgery. I stayed in the hospital for a week getting IV antibiotics. The nurses in 3 East were some of the BEST nurses I've ever had! Barbara, Chere, Maggie, Beau, Ave , Flo, Lily all took really great care of me while i was there. Sam was exceptional, she advocated for me, she really went above and beyond to make sure i was taken care of. I feel like nurses don't get enough recognition, these nurses took such fantastic care of me while i was there, they were quick, attentive, informative, they listened, they cared.
