My husband and I had our wills drawn up many years ago when our sons were under the age of 18 and we needed to have them updated. We had also never established a POA nor an Advanced Medical Directive. I contacted Promise Law on the recommendation of our financial advisor and I’m very happy that I did. Before scheduling an appointment with Attorney Geneva Perry we were instructed to sign up for an estate planning seminar. This seminar was VERY informative and made us realize that what we had done thus far was not enough to keep our estate from going into probate. After attending the seminar we scheduled an appointment to meet with Ms. Perry to gain further guidance in what we needed to ensure everything is in place. Her office was extremely helpful in setting up appointments that worked best with our schedules. Her staff is very professional and pleasant. The appointments are scheduled in stages and Ms. Perry guided us through the entire process over the course of a couple of appointments and answered every question we had or addressed any concerns we had. When the time came to review the drafts of our documents, videos were provided to help guide you through what the documents were saying, these were very good at helping the layperson understand the legal jargon. Several years ago my sister passed away. It was unexpected and she had not left a will or anything to go by. We were all very sad and grieving, but we had to forge on and try to make some sense of what we needed to do. It turned into a long drawn out process (2 years) before we could get everything from probate and do what we needed to do. I recently updated my will, advance medical directive and power of attorney which Geneva had originally prepared many years ago.
