Great Products. Disturbing Management and Culture. "YAHH!" "YAHH!" The yells were coming from behind the store shelf in Real Foods new addition. I was comparing brands for a certain vitamin when I heard all these calls. I looked behind the shelf into Real Foods office area. And what I saw started months of disturbing observations. Now before I proceed, I want you to know that I've been using Redmond products since I was kid. My family and I have loved the quality and affects of Real Salt and Clay. I've been shopping at Real Foods for years. I've believed in everything Redmond products stood for... until now. When I glanced behind the store shelf to see what all the commotion was about, I saw something unusual and frankly something very out-of-place in 21st century America. I saw four women working at their computers, answering phones, writing on clipboards. Then I saw every male in the room gathered in a conference room watching a sports game cheering... eyes glued on a TV screen, having a great time. All the women doing work while men are playing. That's a weird image, I thought to myself as I went back to my shopping. Since then I have seen more disturbing things about the people that work in the Redmond/Real Foods building -- without seeking it out at all. My husband and I have witnessed and/or discussed the following with Redmond employees at community events around Heber City, Utah or in the Real Foods store. 1) I witnessed two Redmond employees (white middle-aged men) discussing an certain unnamed person who wasn't "an open person to Redmond culture" as if they were the only people who could define what "openness" was. It turned my stomach to hear such narrow minded definitions of "openness." If you feel the need to define "openness" in our multi-cultural American society, just remember that racism and women not being allowed to vote were also argued as being "open and popular" perspectives in our nation. 2) Ann, the kind store manager, took me back into this previously described office area (which later I found out is Real Salt's office area) for a product, where I found the women working again and all the men gathered around one computer watching an entertaining Youtube video. Not a very good image. 3) Wives of Redmond employees laughing about how all their husbands do for work is "eat out on the company credit card most days of the week" and "travel all over the US". They also laughed about how at Redmond "you don't do any real work because all you need to do at Redmond to make money is get the CEO, Rhett Roberts, to like you. Then you have it made". I know that my family and I are missing a lot of context because we don't work at Redmond or Real Foods. We are all for having appropriate fun at work with your colleagues. But we've seen consistent disturbing public patterns of human behavior, management and conversations surrounding Redmond and Real Foods that we've decided to no longer support your company with our dollars. This letter has been years in the making. So Goodbye Redmond. We wish you lasting happiness, friendship and success. We've also posted this review on your Google Plus profile page.

I love this place, but more importantly, I love the people inside.
