In 2023, my mom, who has early onset dementia, came to this firm with all her financial troubles. They helped her secure a second and third mortgage, placed a NOSI on her property, and paid her business loans using her house (personal mortgage). The question I have is why if they're HER lawyers, they did everything in their power to help their friends -- a mortgage broker who took a broker fee, who secured a second and third mortgage on the property -- but no one at this firm ever stopped to: 1. Question her competency or capacity. 2. Advise her that these are not sound financial decisions. 3. That it's usually not good financial sense to use a personal property to pay out business debts. 4. Request the presence of a family member and/or a power of attorney. 5. Request if a power of attorney even exists. If someone hires you as a lawyer, YOU SHOULD HAVE YOUR CLIENT'S BEST INTERESTS AT HEART. But money talks and everyone involved in this shady mess made a lot of money off her. You should've known based on the fact that she's a retired widow, that she wouldn't be able to afford a second and third mortgage. You helped her mortgage what's left of her equity and she ended up being evicted and homeless, and completely broke. I think it's pretty clear to anyone looking in objectively that no one at this firm actually had their client's best interest at heart. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FIRM.

**Be aware*** There are many great lawyers out there who want your business and won't charge $450 an hour just to do an initial consult! This kind of business practice says a lot about what to expect. No comment about their acumen, only a comment to always shop around : )

It was indeed a mistake choosing Rutman & Rutman LEGAL ?!!? services for my new home purchased in Fergus & sale of my previous house in Brampton. There should be a “negative” google rating option for reviews… this is what this firm deserves. 1st email sent to Atty Daniel to inform him my intentions to use his form was in Jan 2023, the transactions didn’t close till 12th Sept 2024. You delegated my files to a certain Brandon who did not even have time to look into my account, as well. Whenever I asked your office to look into my issues with the builder you would always request me to wire 1k into your account as retainer’s fee before you’ll look into my issues. I just dealt all the issues directly to the builder without involving your office at all. I want you to know that I did appreciate so much the reviews my daughter Dana Rey posted recently as she was 100% accurate on everything she wrote, contrary to what you said that “NO” family member was even helping me out or supported me during the hard times I went through with these transactions.P put These are just kids trying to start their own lives, I should be the one supporting them … not the other way around… but they were still there for me… you do not have any right to say or make any negative comments about my family … you did not know how they felt when they saw me crying, overwhelmed with all the things I was going through then… they were there for me, comforted me all throughout… gave me positive encouragements… I could not have survived these huge ordeal, which includes dealing with your firm without their support. I’m proud of my kids, they will always be there to care & fight for me & I’ll do the same for them till my last breathe on earth. Now, since you’ve mentioned in your email to me dated 15th Oct 2024 that you are no longer prepared to speak to me about my file due to my daughter & myself’s decision to put an inaccurate google review about your firm … looks like the word inaccurate would best describe your firm… I would just like you to contemplate on why you advertise “false” price list. Your legal assistant, Tasha Jackson gave me 2 incorrect responses, then later said, she’ll just leave it with you to clarify matters when you get back from your vacation. It was quite a wait Atty. Her first excuse was, you have increased your fees since yrs ago. Her 2nd excuse was, there may have been extra services done… as earlier mentioned to you, I dealt all the issues myself without involving your firm to avoid your huge cost demands… I received a Price List from Rutman & Rutman via Canada Post mailed to my Brampton house while it was on sale between May 2024 & Aug 2024. For Residential Home Purchase, the Lawyer’s fees & Disbursements the cost was 1599.99 + HST, however, you billed me for the amount of 3000.00 + HST, Plus all other charges included in the list. For the sale of our Brampton House, your advertised cost was 1299.99 + HST, however, you overbooked me again with the amount of 2000.00 + HST… There was a questionable wire fee, as well of 200.00. 100.00 per transaction. There was just one transaction… I can send you a screen shot of the transaction’s reference if you want to.. just clarify these fees. Domestic wire transfer fees will only range from 25.00 to 50.00 whatever amount.. You charged me 200.00. I have emailed Tasha to send me the breakdown & the description of the items which comprised the amount which was transferred to my account cuz it was received as a lump sum amount with just one reference number. She didn’t reply to my email but rather, she phoned me & yelled at me & trying to explain about the transactions in a very confusing way & in a yelling manner so won’t understand what she’s saying. She was rude & very unprofessional!! You can check the email loop on how many times I’ve asked her about the clarification about the amount that was transferred into my account, she never responded to via email. Do you think there’s nothing suspicious about that Atty Dan?!?!
