Making this review is an exercise in objectivity for me. Heather is a formidable opponent she represented my ex-wife and did a fantastic job for her. She filed everything appropriately argued properly and got what she wanted. She took advantages of our weaknesses and basically whipped my attorney into submission. There were times I had wished I hired her, maybe it was because my attorneys were idiots maybe it was because Heather was good. For what it is being Skagit Valley she’s at the top of her game. There was a moment I sensed insecurity and intimidation from her but it was only once. I do believe she’s forward thinking and if she had my case I probably would’ve ended up with 5050 or more in custody. So any men out there if you’re in a custody case look up Heather Shand and seriously consider her as your attorney.

Heather is exceptional, not just as a lawyer, but as a member of the community. She understands her clients' needs and makes it a point to see the bigger picture. She is the best combination of counselor-like-listener and lawyer all in one, helping her clients to feel whole again.

I should have paid a different lawyer from the start, now the replacement has to clean up this so-called lawyers mess. Barely communicates and does not follow client requests. You will get emails from multiple emails so be on your spam box, they send info from 4-5 different emails so unless you allow literally everything into your inbox you will probably miss something, it’s ridiculous that they don’t have the set up to properly communicate with clients. I spoke to the actual lawyer a grand total of twice. Once so we could actually meet and once when she threw the most unprofessional hissy fit about me speaking to a different lawyer because I hadn’t heard from the firm in 2 months. This lawyer is a waste of money and a stain on the BAR association, don’t expect to have any real communication about your case because even the “assistants” don’t bother to know the details of a case before communicating to each other let alone the clients. My custody case was ignored, deemed unimportant, and a burden for this law firm to handle because they would rather take someone’s money and do barely anything than to actually take care of business. By far the worst waste of money in my life, if only I had the lawyer I have now I could have saved a lot of time and BS. Do not hire this firm, go elsewhere.

I had the privilege of having Ms.Shand in 2012. In civil cases ppl have a lot of emotions kicking up. Its tough,i appreciated her candour with me even if it wasn't something i wanted to hear. Thanks to the parenting plan we had set up, i jave a great working relationship with my ex wife and its a win win for my sons.

Avoid at all costs. Heather screwed my Fiancee out of $1,000. Failed to do anything worthwhile except fail to respond resulting in a default judgement. Took a year and a flurry of phone calls and emails to get the $2500 retainer back, then she kept $1,000 because that was "non-refundable". Never returned calls. Never returned emails. Maybe she works hard for some, for the rest, she'll take your retainer and then "lots of luck".
