When I called to ask about retaining an attorney for a divorce, I was scolded over the phone by a woman (Brenda, I think). She became derogatory towards me and told me I could only retain a Gladwin attorney for a Gladwin case. The details of my divorce are fairly tumultuous, and upon explaining issues to her to try to get a quote, she began to berate me about how I made a choice to strand myself in a state far from my home, and began to go on blaming me for issues in my divorce before I asked whether or not she could help, and hung up upon receiving an answer of "no." Very unprofessional, unkind, and not entirely accurate information was given over the phone. 0/10 do not recommend.

While I was looking for a lawyer to help me with my divorce, I spoke to many getting information. When I called Smith Law offices, a woman named Brenda answered the phone and I asked all of my questions and expressed my concerns while she listened very intently. We set a consultation when I spoke to the lawyer and she was very nice and informative. Brenda was my point of contact at the office and was very responsive and understanding of all my questions and concerns. I just recommended them to a family member who is looking for a lawyer. Very easy to work with and made the very difficult process easier in my opinion.

The best money I've ever spent was spent on Smith Law Offices, particularly Samantha, but also Brenda, Betsy, Kaila and the rest of the team. I actually called Sam personally to tell her that after our initial motion was resolved. I came in with what by all accounts many would consider a nightmare (I know that someone always has it worse, but work with me here!) While there were many parts of that nightmare that Sam and the team couldn't control, one of the worst parts of the war of attrition known as coparenting is the legal side—Smith Law Offices handled it beautifully! Samantha brought a vulnerability that was missing from every other attorney I worked with. Usually, attorneys act infallible, and ooze an almost apathetic confidence regarding uphill battles like mine as a Father asking for more parenting time in a conservative court. I could tell that Sam actually felt for me, and I could feel it as we battled the opposing attorney throughout what was an unlikely motion. In the end, compromises were made, but never without Sam's contextualization of our long-term goals. I am elated to say that I did gain more parenting time, as well as the guarantee of plenty of school involvement with my daughter; that, to me, is priceless. Couldn't recommend Smith Law Offices any more, especially if you want a firm that shows up to the court room with the same amount of heart in the outcome as you do. In the best way possible, I hope to never need their services again. But, when the time strikes to pick up the phone again, which it inevitably will, I'm only calling one place.

Samantha and Kira were awesome! They went above and beyond getting me thru to the finish line for my modification. My end goal was to have more time with my daughter and I got that and much more. These ladies handled themselves with class and are brilliant at what they do. Brenda was also amazing making sure she called and reminded me about everything I needed to have done in time to move along as fast as possible. I’d recommend them any day. -One Appreciative Father
