I went on a Friday. Very quiet and beautiful. High rocks was also beautiful with the fall colors.
We usually hike the high rocks but my son wanted to go down to Tohickon creek and see it up close. A perfect fall morning with the lot to ourselves except for one person fishing. There is a porta potty and a pavilion with picnic tables. There are picnic tables scattered around the creek as well. We walked under the bridge and up the creek as far as the path will allow. I was surprised that there aren’t better or more hiking trails along the creek. At least none we could find off the lot. My son was anxious to cross the bridge so we took the road uphill past the privacy signs for the residential homes and turned off onto the white trail to get into the woods. It can be mucky around the creek and the white trail has a decent drop off to the one side, I recommend good hiking shoes and water. You can walk the trail for quite some time and the road is uphill until you reach it. We never hike without extra water for us and the dogs, a compass, first aide kit and bear spray. Just saying, best to be prepared and teach your kids now to do it right! It’s because of these hikes my son longs to be in the woods and to see the beauty around Bucks County.
Nice quiet hiking area. Unfortunately it is hard to really get a good view of the trails new to lack of postings around the park. We were in the main area on a holiday and it was not crowded at all. Its got lots of hills and peaks. However, I wish there was more signs to show trails as I could not find that many. Also cell reception was hard to get here.
First time visiting. Great park! Outstanding overlooks and well-maintained trails. We hope to get back some time.
Can't believe there is a place like that so close to where I live. The high rocks trail is protected by a sturdy fence where it borders 150 foot drop offs, but would still make your stomach flip if you have the intelligence to realize how death defying being that close to the edge is. People climb these rocks with varying degrees of difficulty and there are a few memorials for people who somehow met there demise there which impacted me in a strange way. Glad our group survived without any harm!
