My Journey...

I first thought of pursuing a career as an attorney when I was taking a course in the inequalities of our judicial system during my undergrad work at Penn State. By the time I finished that course, I had made up my mind to attend law school and become an attorney. Once I graduated law school and passed the Bar Exam, the first area of law I practiced was a Pro-Bono case involving child custody. Today I still practice Family Law as well as Real Estate and Estate Planning, Criminal, Business, Probate and Contracts.

My Focus...

I love these areas of law because I am a people person and all of these areas of practice bring me face to face with real people. Helping people through the most difficult time in there life during a divorce or helping people embark on a wonderful moment in their life by helping them buy their first home, either way I am here to help and enjoy what I do. I know it sound cliche, but I truly enjoy helping people...that is what it is all about. Helping real people with real problems and guiding them through with as little stress as possible.

My Mission...

I offer my clients personal attention, customer service and caring and compassionate legal assistance. I pride myself in always calling my clients back when they call me. My mission is to give each and every client their due importance and their fair day in court if needed. I promise that you will be heard.

"Wow, I thought she would have quit law by now or been disbarred...couldn't agree more with the others...she's absolutely horrible...said she filed the paperwork, kept blaming the slow courts...but after 5 months I said this is ridiculous, so I called the prothonotary's office, and they said it was never filed (which caused another 6 month delay...she said I'm human, I make mistakes, but it seems like she makes mistakes all the time so she's either dishonest or incompetent) In court, she does nothing! She says nothing; doesn't make any valid points on your behalf, just worthless...I hired another attorney and he said who was your other attorney and I said Linda Walters and he said, well that's your problem right there...when I met her, I was like this is an attorney, she's a mess, but she said she's passionate about father's rights, so I was like ok...I regret not trusting my gut instinct...I guess the only salvation is to try to keep others from making the same mistake and hiring her..."

"I do not recommend her services, she has not returned my paperwork nor the money she said she would refund me for not using her for a divorce. It has been over 90 days and I did send a certified letter requesting my paperwork. We had not signed a fee agreement."

"Didn't do anything that I asked her to do. Gave me bullcrap info. Was difficult to get her on the phone. I ended up handling my own divorce in the end."

Let's Talk About: Initial Attorney Consultations
it recently dawned on me that most people have never hired an attorney before and do not know what to expect when going through that process. The attorney consultation is a preliminary conversation with you and an attorney so you can understand your legal rights, determine whether you have a case, and if the attorney will accept your case. Typically, attorneys, like myself, do not charge for the initial client consultation.
Let's Talk About: Pre-Nuptial Agreements
a pre-nuptial agreement is a legally binding contract between two people in contemplation of marriage that outlines how assets and liabilities are to be divided between them in the event the marriage ends in divorce. Since it is a contract, basic contract requirements must be present, including that the agreement must be in writing and both parties must sign the agreement. Under South Carolina law, a prenuptial agreement can be enforceable as long as certain other factors are met. They are included, but not limited to, the following: Was there any fraud, duress, misrepresentation, nondisclosure, or mistake in of material facts by one person or both people upon signing the pre-nuptial agreement? Is the agreement fairly balanced between both parties? Are the material facts present at the time of signing the same material facts at the time of the nuptials? The agreement can offer other terms of the marriage, including, but not limited to the following: What laws will be apply to the divorce and the prenuptial agreement during the divorce, if a divorce were to occur; How assets will be distributed in the event that one person dies during the marriage; and Sections that protect one person from assuming any pre-marital debts of the other person as a result of their marriage. Sections that describe the structure of any spousal support that may be paid, if any. As situations can arise in every marriage, having a pre-nuptial agreement allows both people to establish mutually-beneficial terms of a potential divorce before the wedding. They allow a couple to contemplate future issues and plan the best course of action for them, and allows decisions to be made while emotions are reserved and not made in the "heat of the moment." If you are contemplating getting married and would like to discuss a pre-nuptial agreement, or contemplating getting a divorce and have pre-nuptial agreement in place, please contact my office today for a free initial consultation to understand your rights under the agreement.
