My experience with Mr. Mastriani was similar to that of his numerous other victims who have complained to the Better Business Bureau. His business practice is about locking you in by selling winnable cases, collecting more and more retainers, not doing the work and then refusing to refund that money. In my case, he didn't do any work for at least $11,750 he collected from me. Rather than looking after your interests he's just trying to line his own pockets. I am now working on a website where I am going to upload of all documents, contracts, screenshots of emails, texts, etc to validate and share my story with the community and make sure other people won't fall victim to this attorney. Please visit mastrianifraud.com To all those who had a similar experience, wrote negative reviews here and complained to the Better Business Bureau and the couple whose story was reported on Click2houston.com with reporter Amy Davis, please feel free to email me to mastrianifraud@gmail.com so we can pull resources and go after him. Here is my story: - I hired him to respond to and shield me from creditors after an issue with a franchise I owned being shut down by a franchisor. The payment included a significant retainer and monthly payments. At the beginning I was satisfied with his work. But, later things started to get very fishy. I was sued twice by creditors and he was unreachable while still shamelessly attempting to keep charging the monthly payments. - For one creditor that sued me, he charged me $2,250 for responding to a lawsuit which he did. Then he recommended to file a counterclaim for which he charged $1,000 that he never filed. Then, as we got closer to trial, he summoned me to his office to explain me how he will win the suit in the upcoming audience and I won’t have to pay anything to this creditor. He charged $1,250 for that and the very next day he settled the case with that creditor. The case never made it to trial. Early on I was trying to have him settle this case as it was obvious it couldn't be won but he refused and kept going obviously to take more money. He refused to refund those $1,000 and $1,250 for work not done at all. Then, for the $1,250 he agreed "in writing" that he will handle the brief for 1099c once the settlement is satisfied. I emailed him once I got a 1099 from the creditor and he asked for another $1,000 not honoring what he said he would do after pocketing so much money for work not done. - He collected a retainer of $2,000 as he said the landlord for my commercial location was going to go after me. The landlord never went after me nor he ever did anything for that case. Again, he refused to refund the money. - Simultaneously he was retained to work on the dispute with the franchisor. He gave a great sales pitch of how winnable the case was and pressured to be retained immediately. Despite another attorney advising me not to, I fell for it. He collected $2,000 "to read about the case" which he didn't do as he was always very unfamiliar with the facts about the case. He collected another $3,000 to file the suit in Harris County which he did, but over a year after saying he would do it. The status of limitations stated in the franchise agreement has passed by then so he probably only did it to keep the money. He also said we would have to go to Arizona for mediation and arbitration and charged another $7,500 for that. The Harris county judge dismissed the case for lack of jurisdiction. The case never went to mediation and arbitration in Arizona and again he refused to refund those $7,500. And the $3,000 he collected to file the suit in Harris County to quickly be dismissed, was it incompetence or for pocketing more money?

John charged me 250 and then disappeared. He did not do any of the work that was promised to me. I called and left voicemails, I sent emails to both the email he gave me and the email of the law firm. He is a crook. I am a single mother of 4 children barely making it by and he never cared to help. He just wanted the money and left. It was really hard to come up with that money in the first place. I do not recommend this law firm to anyone not even my worse enemy. If you are looking for a honest and someone to get the job job done, this place is not the right one. If u just want to throw your money away the look no further.

John and his entire staff did a great job for me. As an older woman it can be sometimes very intimidating dealing with lawyers and all the information that needs to be conveyed. I interviewed other attorneys but I just felt more like a number than a real person. John took his time with me and held my hand through each step of the process. What i really liked about him the most was that he was straight forward and honest with me up front. He told me that he isn't the cheapest but that everyone he represents comes out better than they came in and the cost he saves in the long run would easily justify what I was paying for. He was exactly right! In the end I saved a ton of money and he really helped me out when I thought there was no hope. I highly recommend letting John represent you. I can't stress the importance of a good lawyer when you are going through a financial whirlwind. John has a client for life and any of my family and friends who need a good lawyer, I recommend to him. Thank you so much!

after Harvey I had multiple things affect my credit and I had a car situation that I needed to have remedied by a lawyer. Mastriani said that he could take care of that plus a few other situations that I had. I needed somebody to help me quick. I should have known right away that when he said for today only if I pay right away $250 that he'll be able to take my case and if I don't pay today it'll be $500. that was my first mistake and that's my mistake. But I will say this guy is complete scam, a complete fraud and a complete POS. not only did he take my $250 he took it and then after that stopped responding to any calls anytime I try to call I immediately get put to a voicemail and I cannot get through to him at all. Run as fast as you can from this guy there is better lawyers in Houston. Run run run!!

I've worked with numerous attorneys but by far John and his team are the best I've ever worked with. He is honest, passionate, intelligent and very confident which I think are qualities a good attorney should have. I watched him go through all the facts in a very methodical and matter of fact way. It was an intense and stressful case that other attorneys weren't willing to fight but John didn't blink. So we got a very satisfying result. Finding a good attorney takes a long time and can be very hard and stressful. If you are looking for a top attorney, don't look further, I guarantee Mr. Mastriani is the best you can find.John and his team did a great job getting all the necessary information to provide a strong case. There were diligent, professional, and very attentive, and honest with me. I strongly recommend his law firm.
