Reviews

When I first hired Vaavia, I had chosen her because I'd looked at so many reviews and she seemed to come highly recommended. I came here, nearly five years later, to warn potential clients of proceeding with caution. I hired her to help with a parental right/custody/family situation and she was very eager to receive my money. She met with me several times and acted very confident in her abilities to represent me. When we finally got to court, she hadn't prepared enough and was often at a loss for words when it came time to defend my case. She hadn't done the "homework" that would have equipped her with the correct legal facts to aid in strongly representing me. Instead, she looked like a deer in the headlights. Fortunately, I had stressed about this case for nearly a year, so I spent the majority of my own free time researching laws and rights. I presented a strong case when questioned by the judge and opposing lawyer, so the judge decided to rule in my favor. I quickly realized that I could have done everything without Vaavia because that's how little she helped. As disappointing as that experience was, things actually got worse. She was supposed to submit the final paperwork to the court and then send me all of the legal documentation, so that the ruling would be set in stone. This included setting up direct deposit child support payments, showing that I was named custodial parent, giving me the rights to make educational decisions for my child, and showing what the agreed upon custody schedule would be. A few weeks after the court date, I hadn't heard from Vaavia. I called up to her office and left a message for her with the receptionist. I didn't receive a call back, so I sent her an email. When I didn't hear back after that, I tried to call several more times. They wouldn't even answer my calls, at that point. It has been five years and I still don't have the proper documentation. I struggle to receive child support because it's not state mandated. Luckily, the other parent and I have a much better relationship, so the constant worry of being at odds isn't too prevalent right now. Unfortunately, if we ended up disagreeing, I have no paperwork to point to. I have absolutely nothing to show for the gigantic $2500 check I wrote to her. A review like this would have helped me avoid hiring a lawyer that would put me in this situation, so I hope that it will help guide someone in a different direction.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. She is completely unresponsive. Her phone is disconnected, she doesn't keel appts her office sets, and she hasn't responded to my emails, which is my only remaining contact method, in over a week. My court order has even waiting for over 2 months for her to file it.

Today i spoke with the receptionist we went over what I was needing, and the urgency of how I was needing a postponement on my court day due to the fact I'm three states away...she said yes she would be able to do so and they would put an extension on my court date because she was just hired. The consultation was set for aappointment at 3:00 pm today mind you , I called ant 9 am to have these arrangements made also the consultation was $300 (which im glad I didn't pay) and the retainer fee was $4000 which I have. She didn't answer the phone at 3 and still hasn't even tried to reach out and I called for 30 minutes with no answer. Least she could have done is called and say she wasn't taking my case. Unprofessional. Unreliable.

She is the BEST attorney ever. She fights tooth and nail in the court room, nothing gets past her. She is both respectful and intimidating. She cares for you does her job above and beyond and even gives resources for you during this crisis. She makes time for you, and walks you through everything step by step giving you updates and options regarding your case. She has now been our attorney through 5 court dates and 3 cases would not trade her for any other attorney. Every single time we got what we asked for and it was all because of her fighting so hard for us and beside us.

I did a mediation with my exGF, over my Daddy rights late December, 2019. I did not like the Mediation agreement, but she stated I had to agree now, no attorney time, no 60 days to think or contact attorney & revise. So, I agreed by signing as discussed during this phone hearing, & faxed it to child support services in Tennessee and faced to Vaavia Edwards. End of story, which is new to me(custody rights)....I was perceived as a dead beat dad, my character has been demolished, my stimulus check was taken, I owed 5, now 6 months of child support(which was disposed of in mediation agreement I signed ) I have paid, plus IRS took my $1,200 stimulus ,they went after my drivers license & passport. I called Vaavia, & didn't get anywhere, other than the order was never sent to CHILD SUPPORT SERVICES in TN! Now, I have been pushed, in a blackmail way, to sign a 34 page Order, instead of the 4 page mediation papers agreed upon & sgined, if I DON'T, I was told by Vaavia, " SIGN OR PLAN ON BEING IN TEXAS COURT on 7/72020"! I still owe $400 more, No work during pandemic , and I live16 hours away in Tennessee, if I drive, which I will not during Pandemic(or fly with a mask), & I didn't drop the ball on this, so IT'S NOT RIGHT, JUST, OR FAIR! Truly, RM
