Doug is on the top of my list of people that I wish I never had to meet but am beyond grateful that I did. Two years ago, marked the beginning of the most painful time of my life. My world was completely turned upside down and Doug was one of the few things that kept me grounded. Not only does he know family law inside and out, but he understands human nature as well. I can't count the number of times I felt hopeless and lost and his kind (and sometimes humorous) words kept me going. He never sugar-coated things and I never felt lied to. He always told me the truth, even if it wasn't necessarily what I wanted to hear. While my case should have been a simple matter, it ended in a 2-day trial and subsequent appeal from the other party. Doug and his paralegal Donna had everything organized and prepared. As with any case, things didn't always go as planned and Doug was excellent at pivoting, often with a more successful outcome. If you need someone who not only knows the law, but truly cares about you and your case, I can't recommend Doug and his whole team highly enough.
I’m leaving this review a year after the divorce was finalised and handled by Doug. He and his team have been instrumental in the peace my family enjoys today. I consider him a trusted friend who has given spot on advice and perspective. Doug is a busy attorney and for good reason. He responds well to email and returns calls within 24 hours. The #1 thing that stood out to me about Doug is that he is respected by other attorneys and the judge. He knows how to communicate with the right mixture of strength, professionalism and empathy.
Wonderful team, Lessie, the paralegal, and receptionist have been so kind And helpful with my custody case
Doug Leavitt was my attorney for 6 months, her performance was a nightmare. He started off strong like he would advocate for me & then he failed miserably. I am disappointed at the stress, heartache, & feelings of hopelessness caused. He did not respond to emails, literally never answered them. I was dealing with true & time sensitive concerns regarding my children, their health & harassing received from my ex. His office staff stonewalled my calls & I could no get through to him. He did NOTHING to help my case. Would not submit motions, understand the important facts & misrepresented me at a status conference. After he screwed up, he yelled a me over the phone blaming it on me & he refused to relay what happened at the conference. He put me in a 4 month parenting class with my abusive ex! He has caused many sleepless nights. I have submitted a bar grievance & I hope he is reprimanded for his violations against the Idaho State Bar. Hiring Doug was a true mistake.
I’m so grateful for the expertise of Maggie Ryan and Stacy Mahar! The firm handled my divorce in 2004, and when a custody issue came up this year I knew it was best to retain them again. I knew they would do a great job and I would get excellent results. I live in California now, but that was not an issue because of the excellent communication the firm provided. If I needed to speak with either attorney, I got a call back right away. They were even willing to call me back during the weekend. That shows that their clients’ needs are of utmost importance. Not only was my custody matter handled faster than I expected, within a few months, they handled it in the most economically efficient way possible. As a single mother, I cannot thank the firm enough. What an amazing firm! Thank you!
