Benjamin Koo has done my taxes for 3 years now without issue. He and his staff are always highly responsive. They are capable of handling complex state and federal tax matters. They work closely with you to responsibly and ethically limit your tax liability. They hold your hand through out the process and always charge a fair price. There are never any surprises. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of assistance with their taxes.
Benjamin Koo is an unprofessional person. His firm had filed my taxes incorrectly for three years resulting in penalties over $1,600. The only reason I learned of this was when my accountant in his firm left and I was assigned a new accountant. The new accountant discovered the continuous error and the firm offered to pay for less than half of my penalty through services for 3 years. This past tax year was supposed to be my last of this "prepaid" service (value of $300). The new accountant was no longer with the firm so now I got to work with Benjamin Koo himself. Benjamin notices I haven't paid for services for the past 2 years and asks me to pay or provide proof of payment. I explained to him the situation which he started getting defensive and asked me for proof. I forwarded him the email from the former accountant of the agreement which he responds is "totally unreasonable and unacceptable." I asked him if his former accountant never explained the situation and he ignores me at this point. I call him to follow up and that's when he got hostile and belligerent over the phone making irrelevant comments such as I should've been charged more. He's yelling at me the whole time and hangs up on me twice. Each time I called back, he's yelling "you like to hear yourself talk?!?!" repeatedly, hangs up, and when I called back then yells "are you going to listen?!?!" repeatedly. I stayed calm the whole time and asked him to please go on. He has the audacity to cite that his accountants filed my taxes based on what I provided and it is my fault. Again making outrageous comments without any justification. He gives me the former accountant's contact and commands me never to call him again and that he refuses to provide me service. The former accountant responds confirming the firm was at fault and that I am correct. The former accountant kindly offers to keep hold of the agreement. Benjamin Koo never responded with an apology or offered to help with my situation, and let a former associate who helped prevent his firm from making more errors take the fall. Benjamin is not a good human being. I can only suspect the accountant is gone because of Benjamin's toxic behavior and getting childish over $300 means Benjamin is sinking his own ship. Everyone - stay away unless you want to risk having your taxes filed incorrectly and being blamed for it. Also, his ridiculous comment that I should've been charged more is unwarranted. He told me good luck finding a firm to do my taxes for anything less than $600. Plenty of firms offered $300 or less. They were all professional too.
