I'm a mother to one handsome son. When my son was born his father was present. Despite the differences me and his father had. I thought maintaining a healthy relationship by co-parenting would be best for our child. I allowed his father to sustain a relationship with his son until his father made threats to cause bodly harm to myself. I left the state of NY and went back home because I didn't feel safe. His father petition the courts and I came back to NY. Although I left because I was afraid. I've been seen as an Unfit mother for leaving since. I agreed to have joint custody with visitations. My child's father began to become more possessive. He stalked my every move letting me know that hes watching and coming to my home unannounced at any given time. We had a place where the child would get picked up and dropped off so why would he continue to hunt me like a ghost? I tried conveying my issues to the Judge, but I'm not heard. Three years later, my child's father is incarcerated for selling drugs out of his home. Of course the Judge granted visitations. I understand that a father has rights, but is it mandatory? I've been mistreated by my child's father and made to be the worst mom in history. I thought a father is supposed to set good examples for his son, but apparently mistreating a child's mother and selling drugs is a great example for a child. I'm disgusted with this Judge, but I still continue to move forward in order to make sure my son is safe, healthy, and secure because I believe that's what a good Mother is supposed to do!
