Dr. Phillips and his team are the best! Excellent in every way - knowledge, concern, bedside manner, listener, communicator. He obviously is part of a collabrative group to ensure optimal outcomes for his patients. He has been involved in our child's care for almost 10 years and we feel blessed to have him as a part of our medical team.

I am forever grateful to Dr. J Duncan Phillips at WakeMed Pediatric Surgery and his team of professionals at the office and hospital for providing the best care for my child. Dr. Phillips’ surgical skills, as well as the related care before and after surgery, are excellent. Dr. Phillips explained to my child and I in great detail exactly what to expect at every step of the way, including at the very beginning when deciding if surgery was the appropriate course of action. Dr. Phillips and his team of professionals are genuinely interested in taking the time to connect with the patient and their family as partners in treating health concerns in the context of everything else that is going on in the child’s life. The whole team is very friendly, patient, calm, and compassionate, which is so important especially when a child is struggling with a health problem. The environment at the office and hospital is positive and reassuring, which is very helpful during such a stressful time. When my anxiety level as a parent was very high, Dr. Phillips spent the time to respond to my numerous questions and concerns in a respectful and sincere manner. Also, I greatly appreciated that it is always very easy to get in touch with Dr. Phillips and his team with any questions and concerns.

Dr. Phillips is an excellent surgeon who also happens to have superb bedside manner. He made one of the worst days of my life much easier with his patience and kindness. Our 4-week-old son was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis and needed emergency surgery. Dr. Phillips, despite a busy evening of emergency surgeries, took the time to sit down with my husband and me and explain carefully how the procedure works, what the risks are, and how the recovery would go. The surgery he performed was a success and our son recovered quickly, the problem totally solved. For anyone in the scary position to need a pediatric surgeron, I would recommend Dr. Phillips wholeheartedly. Your child could not be in better hands, and you will be treated with kindness and respect.

Excellent surgeon. Always takes the appropriate amount of time, listens, and thinks outside of the box to resolve complicated and delicate issues. Can't write enough good things. The staff is outstanding as well!
