UPDATE- not only too cheap to give away a tumbler, they are disorganized, failed to find important information on my property so I lost a lot of money. They don't own their mistakes, they instead become impossible to get a hold of. Then, when I sold at a loss, my realtor used them again, pretending he was not working with them, but at closing, (days late for no reason) they refused to wire the proceeds, citing security reasons, and issued a check. My bank made me overnight it but put it on security hold. Now they won't answer the phone or call the banker back. What a mess. In several real estate transactions, I've had things close smoothly, but not with Gomez-May
I employed Ryan Weber and his assistant Jessica to help sell my home and they seem to be the gift that kept giving to my nightmares. I want to be clear that this review only reflects my experience with Jessica and the absent attorney Ryan, who I never once heard from. Two days before the scheduled closing, I went to the office to sign closing paperwork and was told there was an issue with the original title to my home, but not to worry as they were working with the title company to get it fixed before Monday. The political garb she chose to wear to meet clients should have been a red flag to her unprofessional attitude but I brushed it off and had a laugh with my wife about it. Needless to say, I should have been worried. Monday comes and my poor buyers have driven a Uhaul from Utah to arrive in Davenport and be told closing could not take place due to the title error. I also want to be clear that the title error itself was not anyone’s fault, but how it was handled rests solely on Jessica’s shoulders. She apparently became aware of this title issue two weeks before closing and notified only the buying agent, again assuring them it would be fixed. They let these people drive states away to be stranded. Their only saving grace was my agreement to allow them to unpack into my home so their travels weren’t a complete waste. My agent was never once contacted. They had two weeks to get ahold of the original owners and failed. After I became aware of what needed to be done, I tracked down the owners myself using public records and asked them to sign paperwork to amend the title. Again - Jessica did not do this - myself, the seller, did. When papers were finally signed a week and a half later I was relieved. Shocker, that wasn’t the end of it. Today, over a month later, I find out that Gomez May never initiated transfer of funds to my lender. So now, my lender has taken an additional payment, and I am responsible for all interest accrued until they send payment. Jessica refuses to answer any of my calls and stopped responding to emails, instead talking to my wife who is not even on the loan of the house. I have been nothing but nice despite the absolute rage I have regarding this issue. I’m not one to typically write reviews and try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but Jessica is proving again and again that herself and Ryan are incompetent and untrustworthy. I do want to note that the one shining star to this saga is Cassie (Kathy?). She took my call today and after I explained the issue to her. She accessed Jessica’s emails (she was conveniently out for the day) and got me a check cut and mailed to me in less than an hour. I cannot express my gratitude for her more. We need more of her in the world!
First major red flag right off the bat was our buyer had to wait an extra day for them to finally get the purchase agreement ready for her. We could’ve excepted five other offers if we wanted to waiting on Gomez May. I went in with my husband to sign papers for our closing. I asked the attorney’s assistant if she got my voicemails when she showed up 13 minutes late with no apology. She laughed, said no and said “it’s been a month”. I’ve had to babysit the details and the receptionist will certainly give you the good old treat you like a number treatment. This place is lousy, and they need some competition because it’s become a warehouse for most Davenport real estate transactions. It is pathetic.
So I get a call from the mortgage company that's freaking me out. I spoke to Gomez three times about a home in Iowa that I'm buying, they told me all 3 times that yes they do homes in Iowa. So I get everything set up and today( two and a half weeks later) the mortgage company tells me Gomez doesn't do Iowa titles.so I'm freezing out and just want to leave a message for them to get ahold of me asap in the a.m and of course you call and it gives you the electric voice speal and says you can leave a message in the general mailbox so here I am waiting for the general mailbox to start but of course it just hangs up. I sure hope the loan lady is wrong because I asked these lawyers 3 times about Iowa and they told me yes they do Iowa homes
