Well, I was going through Some family issues with my wife and child custody When I first contacted him, he said come in he wanted to view the paperwork said he was going to work with me. He originally told me $1500 to fight for custody. And then he said that I needed to file for a Divorce And it would be another thousand dollars so meet not being a lawyer I believed him so it went from 1500 to 2500 1500 to fight for custody and $1000 to file for divorce He had me sign a paper Saying 2500 in total to file for a divorce and fight for custody The first court date my wife did not show up so they kicked it out of court He didn’t even say a word I already gave him $600 Then I had another court date come up December 7 he told me he couldn’t make it In another court date coming up on the 21st Which he told me if he had to go to Lafayette it would be another $2500 He knew we had to go to Lafayette From the very first time we talked Then I called him about the court date he didn’t answer so then I started feeling like this was him just taking advantage of the situation Then I got a phone call just a few minutes ago from him, telling me that I owe Him another $800 And I said, for what He told me he charges $700 just to walk across the street His whole attitude and vibes switched up from the first time we talked so he is trying to charge me $1500 just walking across the street when he literally told me he was going to charge me $1500 to fight for custody For my kids Every time we talk, his switches up and the price always changes And his favorite words to say it’s going to be a little more At this point, I feel, I made a bad decision by even going into the office in the first place but me thinking he was really going to help me and it wasn’t just a money thing And the price wouldn’t keep going up and up and up No motions has been filed. You went to one hearing and didn’t even need to do any. The case was kicked out of court because my wife did not show up And now he’s telling me he’s going to sue me for $2500 Because he tricked me into signing the paper That was supposed to be 2500 in total to fight for custody And file for a divorce I knew it was too good to be true. That was just his way to get his claws into me. Anybody looking to use this lawyer Barrett Be very careful and make sure you get a very good understanding On pricing and I suggest you don’t sign nothing unless it is very well understood, and reading out Because he’s telling me if I don’t give him $1500 for basically nothing he’s going to sue me for the 2500 that I signed on the paper Without even giving the services It’s a crazy world we live in And when I was trying to explain in court, why my wife may have not showed up, he told me to shut up The guy is really a piece of work Be careful when hiring a lawyer And make sure it’s no slick talk nothing left out and never side nothing without the agreement being written out after you sign it, they can say anything
